Report – Newcastle May Have Already Put In Bid For This 28-Year-Old Transfer Target

Newcastle were after Benfica defensive midfielder Andreas Samaris the summer, but at £17M he was too expensive, and a deal couldn’t be made.

But we reported a couple of weeks ago that Benfica are now willing to let the Greek International leave the club in January.

Rafa seems to rate the 28-year-old, and if the fee is reduced from their asking price of £17M, then Rafa could make a move for the 6ft 2ins central midfielder.

It looks like we could bring in Samaris for less than £10M.

Andreas Samaris – Benfica holding midfielder

West Brom were the other Premier League team said to be interested in the player last summer, and Diario de Notícias are reporting that Samaris has an offer from England.

The 31 times capped Greek International has not been involved too much this season which is one reason Benfica are open to letting him leave.

And the club who have made an offer for him could well be Newcastle.

Rafa wants the players brought in early this month and he has already given his transfer targets to Lee Charnley who we assume is now working hard on getting players into the club.

Since this looks like a permanent deal Rafa would need to know the transfer funds, he will get from Mike Ashley this summer, and that still seems to be an unknown at this point.

If we can get a couple of strikers in, a left back and a central midfielder it would go a long way to keeping Newcastle a Premier League club this season.

We took 7 points from our four festive matches after the huge 1-0 win yesterday at Stoke, and the next game in the league is a week on Saturday at home to Swansea.

That’s a decent chance to win the game and give us our third double of the season after we have beaten both West Ham and Stoke twice this season among our six wins.

We beat Swansea 1-0 away earlier this season.

Things are starting to look up at Newcastle.

I really hope they don’t sack Hughes, they’re clueless under him.

We didn’t play well against Brighton but as I said at the time I thought that was due to nerves but the lads are still playing for Rafa. However looking at Stoke yesterday, Hughes seems to have lost them I think his days are numbered!

Ed please stip jumping the gun. Rumours will be just that a rumour. This non story is one of them. Before jumping to headlines that we may have bid for this and that player let the rumour gather some more pace before posting any sort of madr up rumour agents and clubs spout around to sell their unwanted players.

I bet of the 100 plus players linked that you mention we aren’t even looking to sign 5 of them. It is always over the top.

Let’s keep it real this time eh.

Anyway this guy does not impress me and is probs bullsh*t anyway. We can and should aim higher. Prem Experience is a must at this moment in time.

Well this year is all about staying up and Ashley selling up , if we win (when?) Against Swansea we are on track for the former and hopefully the takeover is all but signed – away fans were fantastic again yesterday , pleasure to be with them and a marked difference to some fans on this blog and at SJP

    ASHLEY
Being a gambler he will NOT sell before the season ends
He will take a chance of getting all his money and more by

    i) Keeping RAFA untill end of season
ii) Not buying any new players until we sell
iii) Chancing we will stay up

So he will be able to cash out selling for £300 million plus the TV money
    ££££££££££’s all round.

    FA CUP third – round
will the TOON put out a eleven that are in the shop window this transfer window
    Newcastle United TRANSFER ELEVEN…
    Darlow
    Haidara, Mbemba, Sterry, Gamez
    Colback, Saviet, Diame, Aarons
    Mitrovic, Gayle

    RAFA and problems at home
The course of this season is taking a similar line to last year where teams came and played deep trying to let us come onto them ie QPR, Bristol City then catching us on the break. had to watch some nervous poor performances at home

Does he go with two teams – a home team and and away team – with the home team being made up of the more talented comfortable on the ball playing players.
ie playing Lejuene, Manquilla, Merino, Shelvey, Mbemba if still here
