It is not surprising that goalkeeper Karl Darlow is our Man of the Match in the terrific 1-0 win at Stoke City yesterday.
Karl made great saves in both halves and when Stoke finally did wake up with ten minutes to play Darlow kept us in the lead with two fantastic reaction saves to get Newcastle the win.
It was an excellent display by Darlow – even if Rafa Benitez doesn’t seem to rate Karl highly as a goalkeeper.
Since 31-year-old Spaniard Kiko Casilla is now available to leave Real Madrid, we may see Rafa bring in Kiko this month and that would mean young Freddie Woodman can go out on loan and get some valuable first-team playing time.
Darlow got 49% of the vote and second in the voting was Jacob Murphy.
The 22-year-old set up the winning goal for Ayoze Perez and he had a good game and seems to be gaining in confidence and starting to enjoy his football.
Karl Darlow – making one of those brilliant reaction saves
After the game Rafa said Jacob is still learning the game and can (will) get better – so we hope Murphy can become a top player for Newcastle in the future; there’s no reason why he cannot do that.
Jacob got 16% of the vote.
And congratulations go out to all our players for yesterday’s display – it was a well organized and tidy win with each Newcastle player knowing precisely what their responsibilities were.
Two wins in the last four games augers well for the future 7 points from 4 games over the holiday period – great!
Mike Ashley also needs to support Rafa Benitez in this January transfer window.
Lest we forget.

Comment #1Not sure how Murphy got second although a great assist he in no way performed to the level of Diame and lacscelles or even Perez for that matter.

I may be wrong but I think the Leazes Terrace area’s got some sort of conservation (protected from major building/ development).
Jules.
You’re name doesn’t ring a bell with me – mind, given the zillions of brain-cells I’ve damaged over the years, that means nothing.
We’ll have to be careful not to confuse you with Jib and his vewy good fwend, Jane!

Messes is a conservation area so any SJP development affecting it’s probably a mon-starter

Can we take it you’ve still suffering the inconvenience and discomfort of Lanzarote? If you are, you have our sympathy.
Aye, it does look as though Hibbet’s keeping his head down.
Hibbet, don’t be so daft. With the best will in the world where plans are involved along with Ashley, it’s likely he’ll do his best to be difficult.
Get yourself back in – we need some sense to counter the ever increasing number of idiots that are being troublesome!

Comment #4Diame was our best outfield player. He won everything all day. I think the twitter mob/rabble/crew interfere with these blog polls.

Comment #5I wouldn’t worry about the ground expansion for a good few years
Ashley still here and calling the shots via Charnley
Scrapping around for loans
Ashley rubbing his hands at 13th – he loves a gamble

Comment #6I still have us on 36 points if we don’t sign key players. Especially number 10 and striker.
I can see Ashley not allowing investment. He’s just arrogant enough to do it I imagine.
