The Northern Echo are reporting that Newcastle have put in bids for two strikers – Danny Ings of Liverpool and Islam Slimani of Leicester City.
The report is that Newcastle have put in loan offers for the two strikers – and maybe they include an option to buy this summer.
This seems an excellent early move for Newcastle and both strikers seem to be available.
But there could be problems with Slimani if the transfer of Turkish International Cenk Tosun goes through.
Everton are in prime position to seal the deal and are meeting with Besiktas officials today to try to do just that.
Islam Slimani – bid made by Newcastle
If it goes through for around £25M Besiktas may then go after Slimani which would complicate things.
But Newcastle can offer the Algerian International Premier League football through the end of the season, and he will want to do that – hopefully.
Newcastle have been watching Cenk Tosun all season, and he seemed our number one striker target, but it looks like we cannot afford him at maybe over £25M.
We need two strikers brought in during January and loan deals don’t cost too much so if this news is accurate it’s a good sign that Newcastle want to get their transfer targets to the club early during this January transfer window.
Our Premier League survival could depend on how we do in the month’s transfer window.
It would be really good if we could get both strikers into the club this month.
Both strikers are good goalscorers and could convert the Newcastle chances that we have failed to score from, not only this season but last season too.
