Newcastle Aggressively Pursue Two Strikers – Bids Have Been Made

The Northern Echo are reporting that Newcastle have put in bids for two strikers – Danny Ings of Liverpool and Islam Slimani of Leicester City.

The report is that Newcastle have put in loan offers for the two strikers – and maybe they include an option to buy this summer.

This seems an excellent early move for Newcastle and both strikers seem to be available.

But there could be problems with Slimani if the transfer of Turkish International Cenk Tosun goes through.

Everton are in prime position to seal the deal and are meeting with Besiktas officials today to try to do just that.

Islam Slimani – bid made by Newcastle

If it goes through for around £25M Besiktas may then go after Slimani which would complicate things.

But Newcastle can offer the Algerian International Premier League football through the end of the season, and he will want to do that – hopefully.

Newcastle have been watching Cenk Tosun all season, and he seemed our number one striker target, but it looks like we cannot afford him at maybe over £25M.

Everton can.

We need two strikers brought in during January and loan deals don’t cost too much so if this news is accurate it’s a good sign that Newcastle want to get their transfer targets to the club early during this January transfer window.

Our Premier League survival could depend on how we do in the month’s transfer window.

It would be really good if we could get both strikers into the club this month.

Both strikers are good goalscorers and could convert the Newcastle chances that we have failed to score from,  not only this season but last season too.

What do you think?

‘…two strikers in during January and loan deals don’t cost too much so if this news is accurate..’

I thought someone on this blog said that the league only allows two loan deals per season so what how does Kenedy from Chelsea fit in ?

    I think it is
bids in for strikers and the first one
    to bite is in.
bids in for strikers and we take them both.

Would have sooner gone in for Batshuayi than the two mentioned.
Where is the proof that Ings will stay fit and last the course! A risky signing that we can ill afford in this window

Ings seems to be fit and sharp. Totally understand the reluctance re his awful injuries.. But sometimes you have to take the risk if he is the best finisher we can get right now. I suppose Ba, for instance, was a big risk with his crumbly knee but he came off for us , thankfully.

Yeah I agree with what you say mate, But I don’t see why we after these type of players if a Takeover has been done.
Southampton are or were in pole position for Ings and Conte has said Batshuayi can leave according to numerous papers, So I know who I would choose

Slimani on loan seems viable as leaving the Premiership to go to Turkey May not be his ambition

Only two loan deals are allowed so Slimani, Ings AND Kenedy won’t happen.

I watched Slimani on Monday and while he scored a lovely chipped goal and got a lot of the ball he seemed to be lumbering along and didn’t seem to have much pace?

We desperately need a new striker but listening to $kt sports news when he last played and scored they were not convinced by him and if he is struggling at Leicester will he be an upgrade? Would rather go with Ings and take a risk as we only need 6 wins this season for survival and thats all that is important, anything else is a bonus. Heavens, roll on this take over…….if it happens…..HWTL’s

Loan rules also specify that you cannot loan more than one player from the same club. Therefore Kenedy and Batshuayi is a definite no go. Maybe why they are looking at Ings/Slimani instead.
Let’s face it they aren’t looking at any of them!

If we sold Mitro Joselu and Gayle I woulld love us to be more adventurous and make a positive bid for Tosun.
