Newcastle’s Spanish Transfer Target Is Available – If Rafa Moves For Him

The news from Spain is that Real Madrid are all set to pay the €20M release clause in Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga’s contract.

He will become a free agent in the summer, but Real want him in during the winter transfer window so he can immediately compete with Keylor Navas for the number one jersey.

That’s now likely to happen according to Madrid publication Marca, and that could make Kiko Casilla available this month – since he will drop down to number 3 goalkeeper at Madrid.

Marca are reporting that Newcastle went after Casilla in the summer, but Real would not sell, and the report is that if Newcastle return for him in January, he will be allowed to leave the club.

Rafa Benitez signed Casilla in the summer of 2015 when he was the Real Madrid manager, and he seems to rate the goalkeeper highly.

Kiko Casilla – now available from Real Madrid

He also wants a new first team goalkeeper in the ranks which would allow young Freddie Woodman to go out on loan.

Kepa (full name Kepa Arrizabalaga Revuelta) is 23 years old, and one of Spain’s top young goalkeepers and could be in the Spanish squad for the World Cup in Russia this summer.

Casilla is 31 years old and started his career at Real Madrid and is well liked at Madrid and the feeling is they would allow him to leave for Newcastle if Rafa comes calling this month.

The news in Marca is that both Real Madrid and the player himself would be willing to sign for Newcastle if the world-class Spanish manager goes after the goalkeeper.

Kiko has played 36 times for the Real Madrid first team and once for Spain.

Whilst I do like Darlow, he’s a great shot stopper, but is horrible in distribution. This would be a very astute signing.

Not really sure but apparently he’s part of penhallow and they act like agents to create companies like this one. They’ve worked with Amanda in the past on bug deals. That’s all really. I copy and pasted that previous info.

I dunno this lad seem to be decent at commanding his area, dependable and distributes well. Lot of caveats there. Not sure if he’s a good fit for NUFC 🙂

What’s with the likes of bargain bin signings like Slimani? Once takeover is completed we are pursuing Edinson Cavani and Lewandowski as our forward line.

Isco will be our priority no. 10 signing to feed Cavani and Lewandowski upfront.

The odds of Leicester loaning us Silamni when they will probably have cash offers on the table is quite slim to be honest.

I’d say Ings is more likely.

Casilla looks a decent goal keeper but the main worry would be is that he is coming to a different standard of football he will be a lot busier than he is playing for Madrid ! How is he with crosses into the box all game?

Selz looked decent until he came here and couldn’t deal with the crosses into the box although he seemingly couldn’t make a routine save either !!

I knew mourinho, allardyce and pardew were all egotistical, arrogant so and so’s, but Hughes really takes the biscuit with quotes like ” who else could do this job” and ” I’ve set high standards” Really? Mid-table finishes most seasons – is that really high? especially when seemingly his only tactic is the big ball to Crouch.

It’s a difficult one re- the keeper. Darlow was brilliant at Stoke and Woody can’t wait for ever. However, Eliot and darlow’s distribution is truly woeful and both hang on to the ball for far too long and end up inevitably just hopefully hoofing it. In an ideal world we’d get someone on the lines of the city keeper.

The Chronicle are all over the place with this story. A lad on the Chronicles comment section correctly said that they reported that Mr Tubbs was back from the US last week and in todays article say he’s not back until next week. So clearly they are making things up/guessing. I think nobody knows exactly what the position is.

Cantervale is an anagram of Ne ca tle

The letters that don’t fit are the v and the r
    V + 1 = w
    R + 1 = s
The missing letters to make Newcastle.

    That’s a bit of a coincidence.

geordie – the Chronicle did say that the reports about this company are “intriguing” -think they got that right.
I hope it means that Staveley is “getting her ducks in a row” in preparation of things really beginning to happen and we finally get rid of Mr Tubbs.
