These Players Could Be Leaving Newcastle This Month

The Mirror is reporting that Henri Saivet, Jack Colback, and young Jamie Sterry are available to leave Newcastle this month – with Jamie likely to get first team experience out on loan.

But Jack Colback and Henri Saivet have no future at Newcastle and are available to move on permanent deals to other clubs.

Sunderland are said to be interested in Colback, but we’d be very surprised if his former club can persuade Colback to move back to Wearside, although he does want to stay in the area – if that’s possible.

The Sunderland fans will hardly welcome him back the way they reacted when he left Sunderland for his hometown club in the summer of 2014.

Henri Saivet – excellent form at West Ham could help him move

The fact that since Henri Saivet played so well for us in the 3-2 win at West Ham, he has not been in the last three Newcastle squads says that he has no future under Rafa on Tyneside.

Colback has fallen out with the manager, and the club are keen to get his high wages (reported to be anywhere between £40K/week and£70K/week) off the wage bill.

His wages are likely to be around £40K/week.

Saivet’s performance at West Ham, where he scored an excellent goal direct from a free kick, should help him find a club with Newcastle wanting their money back on the Senegal International – about £5M.

Given his form in the West Ham game, and his positive attitude, he’s worth £5M.

Other players could leave Newcastle this month but only if we get players in to replace them.

One player who could leave is Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic who wants to leave, and he could lbw allowed to move on if we get two strikers in this month.

Chancel Mbemba could also leave, but we would be surprised if Rafa can get another center-back through the door this month.

It would be great if we can get one or two players through the door early in the month – especially strikers.

They can then start scoring the goals for us.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

A lot of STs have barren spells but AC always gives chances for his fellow players, he terrorises defenses and those two goals he scored were crackers.

Feel a bit sorry that Saivet will probably go, but if we need to sell in order to buy, then so be it.
A reliable goal scorer in place of Saivet, Colback and Mitro would be a good piece of business IMO.

It does seem strange that Mitro, Mbemba, Saivet and Aarons have been more or less frozen out by Rafa. I’m sure they could offer more than they have been allowed to display.

It’s evident that hard working obedient players are what Rafa is looking for.

I’d liked to have seen Saivet given a run, but even the manager of Saint Etienne wasn’t best pleased with him. Probably explains a lot.

Colback went to Ipswich Town on loan
twice when he played for the scum.
Mick McCarthy has talked to him apparently.

Have to admit that I find the apparent desire to let those 3 go very puzzling, they’ve looked like canny players when they have had the chance and i’d doubt if better replacements will be found in this window.

OK Sterry might be just a loan so that might be a good thing but it wouldn’t surprise me if he was sold.

Colback isn’t such a surprise as he’s obviously not flavour of the year, never mind the month. It’s a pity really cos he was/is so committed to the club.

    betty

Mitro, mbemba, Saviet, Gamaz, Rolando, pirlo, hiadara, to name 7 that seem to be frozen out

and it makes no sense when you see that in the summer he spent 30 million on what i can only say is dross, from mid table teams,

Mitro and Mbemba came from a team who won the league, both play international football and do well for them.
i’m not that much of a colback fan, but not many years ago he was nocking on the England squad when we had a decent MF in there.

To Rafa these players really are tools

strange choice by some fans imo

Regarding the Luton game – Hasn’t Armstrong just returned from his loan from Bolton? When he was loaned out, it was only supposed to be until January but haven’t seen anything official about him being back.

If he is, I’d throw him straight in against Luton – one of the few in our squad to have a lot of experience (and success when at Coventry) of playing lower league opposition. Can’t see Rafa playing Mitrovic regardless of whether he is injured.

we beat west ham and stoke (Carroll and crouch) as all they did was hoof long balls.
better teams these days have fast, mobile and skilful strikers
if carroll wasn’t a geordie would anyone be so desperate to have him back to play a game and then be out for 2 months.

“”Aleksandar Mitrovic, Jesus Gamez, Rob Elliot and Florian Lejeune have been sidelined with back, ankle, thigh and foot injuries respectively in recent weeks, and Benitez has suggested he will not risk any of that quartet in the FA Cup.””

    – that excludes Lejuene then!

“”Joselu was not risked against former side Stoke City after suffering from cramp during training, while Mikel Merino and Isaac Hayden were also used sparingly over the festive period too.””

    – I would have thought Joselu could bag some goals and improve his confidence, whilst Merino and Hayden need to gain match sharpness, along with Dummett. However, the risk needs to be outwayed with providing player options for league games.

2- goal just been reading about Armstrong. Parkinson apparently wants to extend his loan but recently Armstrong has hardly any starts plus playing on the wing.

Probably needs to go elsewhere for his own progression ( don’t think Rafa would rely on him for the remainder of the season or indeed play him).

I see the game against Luton as an opportunity to try things out not rest players.

    1. Woodman deserves a chance to impress due to his success internationally, he is almost 21, I think Joe Hart was Man City’s first choice goalkeeper at 20 and made his England debut at 21?

    2. We must be able to get Shelvey and Merino in the same team. Shelvey as the Quarter back and Merino as the Linch pin. After all Merino plays there for Spain and is 6″2.

    3. The players would have had a 5 day rest up until Luton and they will have a 7 day rest before Swansea.

    4. I always think that attack is always the best form of defence and by playing a high line with quick cover back is the way ahead.

    5. I would treat this game as a tester to get continuity looking forward to the Swansea game.

    6. Not sure if any of this team are injured?

    Team for Luton:

    —————————————————————-Woodman GK———————————————————————————-Mbemba CB————————–Lascelles CB—————————–Clark CB———————–Yedlin WB———————————————————————————————————–Aarons WB——————————————————————–Shelvey CMF———————————————————————————–Murphy (RW)———————————————————————–Atsu(LW)———————————————————————————-Merino (No 10)—————————————————————————————————————————Gayle (CF)————————————————————–

We are lacking fire power up front so if Armstrong is back why not give a go…last thing we need is to play joselu, perez or gayle and pick up an injury… we are already struggling with strikers so why not throw him in at his best position….can see dummet gettin game time along with woodman, sterry maybe, clark mbemba, hayden, shelvey and merino gettin a half each, saivet, aarons lascelles will want to play but keep him for swansea.

    This news just in

South and North Korea made their first contact in years at the border village of Panmunjom via a communication channel which Pyongyang ordered brought back online earlier on Wednesday, Yonhap reported. South Korea’s unification ministry said that “A North Korean official first contacted the South side via the channel.”

After exchanging the usual pleasantries such as “how was your Christmas ? ” and ” did you get anything nice ? ” talk quickly turned to football as it often does amongst lads.
Apparently North Korea need investment into their National Football Side named locally as “Can’t Win One” and were asking about the availability of Mike Ashley investments as they can offer lucrative low cost production for cheap sports brands.
I’m pleased to say that the South Korean spokesman has indicated that Mike Ashley may well be available from the weekend onwards and that they would be pleased to send this Turkey to them as a belated Christmas present.
