Rafa Targets Four New Signings In January – But Not Andy Carroll

Sky Sports is reporting that Rafa Benitez wants four new signings brought into Newcastle this month.

But one of them will not be Andy Carroll.

They report that after Rafa had talks with West Ham about the possibility of getting Carroll in, the manager has decided not to pursue the former Newcastle striker.

One of our targets seems to be Troy Deeney of Watford who would come in as a permanent transfer if he arrives, with his club now willing to listen to offers for the 29-year-old.

Jonathan Viera – Las Palmas midfielder

Another is 28-year-old Las Palmas attacker Jonathan Viera according to the Telegraph, but at £18M there seems no way we can pay that amount unless we sell some of our players.

Burnley are also said to be interested in the midfielder and maybe they can afford him?

Viera seems a decent enough player and came through the Youth Academy at Las Palmas before he had spells at Valencia and Standard Liege in Belgium.

Rafa also wants to bring in 21-year-old Kenedy of Chelsea who could challenge for any position on the left side of midfield and at left back.

And with Chelsea starting to sign some players that might even be possible this month since Antonio Conte says he must sign a replacement before he will allow the Brazilian to go on loan.

Rafa also wants to bring in a new goalkeeper and he could go for 31-year-old Spanish goalkeeper Kiko Casillas at Real Mafrid who seems to be available; if we can get him it is likely to be a loan deal.

Hibbit – JazzyP has just popped over to my house and has asked for your forgiveness as he wants to know what you have heard

He’s so sorry that he has promised to clean all my socks (including the most crusty ones)

He then got onto all fours and I said Jazzy (noooo, don’t you dare)

    Transfer game

You must take one transfer from each Nufc Premier League manager and swap them with a member of the current squad e.g. Pardew – Demba Ba for Joselu.
Afterwards, create what your squad would look like with your transfers.
    Use: http://www.nufc.com/2017-18html/transfers.html to help.

    Rules:
    – Rafa is still the manager so think about picking players who would fit into his system.
    – You can only swap players that are like for like e.g. Striker for Striker. If you run out of current squad strikers then you can’t swap any more strikers.
    – Current squad swaps must be first team, so no youngster swaps. No swapping Armstrong for Shearer.
    – Only one transfer per manager (barring Keegan, as you can have his first and second tenure)
    – You have to take one transfer from each manager, you can’t refuse to take from one

    Keegan (1)
    Dalglish
    Gullit
    Robson
    Souness
    Roeder
    Allardyce
    Keegan (2)
    Kinnear
    Hughton
    Pardew
    McClaren

As per the earlier article, if Ings was our top transfer target what does this say about our other targets quality?
2 Josieres and 2 Manquillos, maybe. Hopefully we’re being grossly misled by the media. I’m not expecting too much but in Rafa we have have a manager that can galvanise almost any crop of players. We’ll have a strong idea by the end of January whether we’ll be up or down. Transfers in and fixtures this month will be very telling. For sure, the biggest month of our season.

Seems a good game, should be 2 per manager though to build a squad then the team.

However I can’t think of one signing Hughton made.

Rafa: “I think we will have a strong team. We only play one game this week, one game next week, so I will put out a team that for me will be enough to win the game.” Mitro, Gamez, Elliot & Lejeune are still out #NUFC

This time last year there were links with Callum Wilson. A swap deal that involved Mitrovic and Callum Wilson for the rest of the season wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Just a thought on the approval thing.
How do you do that for a fund that is owned by several persons.
Is it the character of the people that is assessed or is it just a do they have enough money thing.
If it is MBS how do you assess the suitablity of another countrys leader.
Some club owners come from parts of the world where you can’t really do any sort of examination of their suitability or otherwise.

    Just out of interest.

So we have the EPL fit and proper owner test which could exclude someone from buying a club, what happens if Sadum Hussain got a club promoted to the EPL?

So if your a tw@t you just need to buy a Championship team and get it promoted therefore avoiding the whole process.

Does the FA make the rules for fit and proper lol.

So sick of waiting for anything logical and normal to happen in this club. It boils my piss and us NUFC are the most patient in the world by far. He fat slug keeps us in the dark with everything all the time. What a useless and careless teat of an owner we have. It beggars belief every season. He has asset stripped this club to the bones and still wants to see if he can pocket a few more quid! I dispise the ‘man’ with a passion.

Can we for once get the rub of the green and get this blooming take over done ASAP before the fat moron wins again by not spensing another penny in this crucial window for us.

So tired of the constant waiting at a snails pace for anything to happen! It’s been lole this ever since the fat smug walked into St James’.

Go do one and FCUK OFF YOU GREEDY CU*T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The proper fit and owner test cannot be too stringent. So long as the potential suitor can afford to own the club, promises to treat it like a listed building, and isn’t a war criminal, he/she/they should be good to go. Another Portsmouth type situation wouldn’t be good for anybody. I wouldn’t like to think the F.A. would scare potential owners off.

Premier league is now a global brand worth billions, we have seen many clubs drop out of the league due to mismanagement/finances. This fit and proper test is simply a case of, do you have money to support the club, if its Yes you get signed off.

Rafa Benitez says he STILL doesn’t know his budget for this month’s transfer window.

Newcastle United’s manager hopes to strengthen his squad in the window, which opened four days ago, for the second half of the campaign. However, Benitez is waiting for answers from the club’s hierarchy after identifying a number of potential targets.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup tie against Luton Town, Benitez said:

““I don’t know exactly what is our budget, so I don’t have any news. “We have to keep working and try to make sure we have our targets, because I don’t know.

I have to prepare the team. “We had a meeting last week and had conversations, and I’m waiting now for news.

“We had the meeting, talking about options targets, and (I am) waiting for the numbers. I can’t say nothing, no more. “We don’t talk about names. At the moment, we don’t have any movement so we are waiting.”
