Rafa Hints At Staying At Newcastle For A Long Time

Rafa Benitez has said he wants to win the FA Cup with Newcastle in the future, but he will remain realistic for this season.

Rafa should put out a strong team today because we don’t have many games coming up, now that the string of festive games is over.

But he knows we are in a huge fight for survival in the Premier League and he will be guided by that if we get through the 3rd round.

It is crucial that Newcastle remain a Premier League team.

Rafa Benitez – long term ambition for Newcastle

If we can start winning league games we could get out of danger fairly quickly, but how much money he gets in January is still not known.

The fact he says he wants to win the FA Cup in the future is a huge hint he wants to stay as the Newcastle manager long term.

This is what Rafa has said in the Chronicle:

“I can be romantic but it doesn’t change anything. Will I play a weak team?”  “No, I will play a strong team.”

“That’s it, it’s what I can do.”

“I told the players: ‘Listen, we have to win and we want to be sure that we go through.’ ”

“That’s it.”

“After that, you can see the players on the pitch and how it’s going on and I will try to do my best from the bench to help the team.”

“If we do well, fine, we will go to another game and see what happens. But I can’t guarantee: ‘Yeah, we will go and I want to do this and that.’”

“No, the first thing is to win your games when you have problems in the Premier League.”

“You have to win your games and be sure you can attract more players and bring more players because you will stay in the Premier League.”

“I want to see Newcastle United in the Premier League, stable, and that means that then you can go and try to win cups or whatever.”

“For us now, it’s to stay up and if we can go through in the FA Cup, we will try to go as far as we can.”

Those are good common sense comments from Rafa – he knows the importance of Newcastle becoming a stable and (very) good Premier League side.

Three in four fans think we can win this game today.

We should win but we have a habit of making hard work out of these types of fixtures. 3-0 Toon.

Hahaha, I doubt it, but he is someone with contacts inside the club so he’s someone I’d believe

Regards to the Sky Sports tweet, Ed says he was duped by a fake account. He immediately took the article down but it’s still out there…I think we all got rather excited when we saw that.

What else is there for Mackems to do ,
but annoy their betters with fake news?
There’s nothing to excite them with their
    own crock of shit.
What was Chris Coleman thinking ?

It may be a fake account and the headline is supposed to attract attention under a false pretence…but it is telling the truth…the deal has been done but Ashley is not in a position to tell anyone just yet…but it won’t be long now.

Last night it was Tuffools. Hook line and stinker.
As Bobby suggested it’s nigh on impossible to select Rafa’s team. Looking forward to seeing
    Woodman and hope it’s today.
He’s a real talent in my humble opinion.

@Jack The bit I like about Mick Quinn’s tweet is “The last thing I want to do is string them magnificent @NUFC fans along again, hopefully my info is correct so we are sitting tight with fingers crossed”

Mind he might have been on the sauce.
