We watched the Norwich vs Chelsea game yesterday (0-0) and 21-year-old Kenedy was playing at left wing back, and he looks a good technical player who can grow into an excellent player with the right coaching.
The Telegraph are reporting that since Chelsea have signed Ross Barkley, Rafa Benitez suspects the London club will now let Kenedy’s loan to Newcastle go through next week.
After winning 3-1 against Luton Town yesterday in the FA Cup Newcastle have now won three of our last five games, so things are starting to look up on Tyneside.
A win is a win even against a League Two side, but Luton are top of League Two, and they have a well-organized side.
Kenedy – on his way to Newcastle on loan
And with Kenedy, who turns 22 next month, we have a feeling that if he does well, then Rafa will try to bring him to Newcastle permanently in the summer.
Kenedy is not the finished article, and he will benefit greatly from being coached by the talented Rafa Benitez.
Kenedy usually plays in an attacking role, but he played at left-back for Chelsea when he first arrived from Fluminense and played well for then manager Guus Hiddink in the first half of 2016.
He put in some impressive good left-wing crosses in yesterday’s game, and this lad can turn out to be a good player in the future.
Although as we said – he is not the finished product by any means.
So it will give Newcastle some momentum and fans some hope if we can bring the Brazilian U20 player in this coming week.
Kenedy has played 26 times for the Chelsea first team with 3 goals and 2 assists.
Rafa is still hoping to bring in striker Danny Ings from Liverpool even though it appears he wants to stay at Liverpool and fight for his place.

Comment #1I think this is bad business. Not too much talent and an absolutely stinking attitude by the sounds of things. He was absolutely clueless yesterday going forward and people think he can play 10, no chance.

Comment #4Kenedy is a lad with bags of talent, imagine a young coutinho or even richarlison asked to play wing back a position which we would all think is laughable for them to even be considered for.
Kenedy came to England with a big reputation so if utilised correctly he can become a very good player. He can play on either wing, in the no10 role or upfront. Good movement, good left peg, bags of pace. No attitude issue other than what ppl read about wake up China.
If he had an attitude problem Chelsea would have kicked him out a long time ago. Unfortunately this kid is another casualty of the big teams buying a talent and then wasting them.
C Dog my advice to you is to watch some games the lad played in Brazil, don’t judge him on a cup game in which he has his first competitive game of the season and that out of position.

Comment #5Look we need a couple of proven players. No more gambling on the unknown.

Comment #6I heard the same sort of pleading to give a lad a chance when we were signing Josiére.

Comment #7Kenedy is a talent and should thrive under the tutelage of Rafa. Those choosing to criticise him have not seen enough of him to write him off. The same people who wrote off Murphy before he had been given time to settle!
Chelsea have used Kenedy sporadically and he needs games to flourish but I’ve seen enough to view him as a creative influence which we’re lacking.

Comment #8It’s not pleading just recognising a versatile talent and somebody who certainly would improve the team. That’s what the window provides a
loan signing with an option to buy depending on our financial circumstances. Keeping our options open as far as spending on other targets.

Comment #9I think I spot player strengths and weaknesses quicker than most and don’t get too many wrong. From the clips online I think he looks interesting. Relaxed on ball, strong, good shot, has a trick or two. Chelsea don’t buy many drones either and have serious reach worldwide so this guy must have been showing them something originally. Hope we get him.

Comment #10The modern game, as exemplified by Man City, requires full backs to be quick and agile who can support their forwards. If they can defend even better.
In Yedlin we have such a player but have no one on our left side. Dummitt is left footed and a good solid defender but poses little to no threat going forward. Manquillo is not so good a defender but better at attacking but not left footed. Haidara is left footed and probably the best of the three at attacking but out of favour with Rafa.
If Kenedy is brought in on loan and turns out to be no good then he is returned. Like Marino, if he is good then he is bought.
