Moroccan International Achraf Hakimi joined Real Madrid as an 8-year-old back in 2006, and there’s news today that Rafa Benitez wants to get the 19-year-old to Newcastle in January according to a report in the Sunday Express.
It will be a loan deal, and maybe Rafa will try to get an option to buy the teenager as a clause in the loan contract, assuming Newcastle can get the 6 times capped Moroccan International to the club this month.
Hakim looks like an excellent player in the making, and he has real class.
He is of Moroccan descent, but he was born in Spain and grown up in the capital.
Achraf Hakimi – 19-year-old Real Madrid right-back
He has played for the Real Madrid first team 10 times so far with one goal and is already attracting attention from other clubs because of his excellent form.
He made his first-team debut For Madrid back in August of last year and played in both of Real Madrid’s Champions League games against Tottenham Hotspur.
Hakim made his full international debut for Morocco last October in a 4–0 win against Canada.
He is highly rated by Real manager Zinedine Zidane who wants to get him out on loan for the rest of the season so he can get more first-team experience.
So it seems, if this report is accurate, we have a good chance of getting the teenager to Newcastle this month.
Rafa Benitez has strong links with Real Madrid – it is his hometown club whom he managed for seven months from the summer of 2105, and the manager is well thought of at the club.
Hakimi was at the club at the time Rafa was the manager, and he probably knows about the teenager from first-hand experience.
Rafa is looking all over the place for good loan signings to bring into Newcastle this month, and Hakim would be a good acquisition for Newcastle for the rest of this season.
What do you think?

Comment #1Can’t see this happening unless we have covered all the major issues with the team. A striker and keeper are a must imho

Comment #2Express reported this as being all over the
Spanish media – it’s not
It’s reported on Dutch footy site Voetball.
I think they have put
“Newcastle Moroccan football defender called
Achraf” in their search engine
not realising we already have one already
(on loan at Benevento)

Comment #4One thing is for sure
Even more so than Summer
The first we will get to hear of signings
is when they have a foto call at SJP.
Should be interesting to see –
whether SD is in the background as usual.

On superleague issues, FIFA would not agree and neither would the respective football associations. They would have to form their own football federation and the issues associated with that are numerous.
What needs to be done is a revamp of the rules by FIFA and that should include the various TV companies that are basically financing football.
Too many clubs are closing down academies which eventually has a flow on effect on national teams. This needs to stop. More money needs to flow in to grass roots football and lower level league clubs in developmental issues.
The main thing that needs to be done is to launch new rulings especially at rich clubs to bribg back fairness because FFP clearly doesnt work in its current form.
Introduction of salary caps
Transfer limitations on numbers
Revamp the loan system
Transfer fee caps
And most of all
Matchday 18 man squads must include 4 home grown academy under 21 products with at least 2 starting.
Then we will see more of an eveness actoss the board and the likes of Moaninho, Guardiola, Conti etc will need to rely less on the cheque book and more on their so called coaching skills.
Somehow, I think FIFA will be too frightened to take them on

Comment #7I know our top league goal scorers have only managed three each so far this season, but there surely can’t be many premiership clubs for whom twelve different players have scored in the league ?

What about a limit on the number of foreign players allowed to turn out for a team if we are looking to improve the quality and prospects for our national side ?
This could be something the FA could look at after Brexit, but have they the courage ?

Only one who might have done something against the Aussie bowling would of been Boycott – boring he might have been but did not give his wicket away.
Stokes wouldn’t have mattered has not got the temperament like Smith to stay would want to swat the ball all over the place.
Bowling got no-one with with the pace you need in Os all our bowlers are used to bowling in England where the conditions mean just about any bugga can swing the ball

Comment #22Get real. Our defence is holding its own. What we need is one or maybe two proven strikers. I know they cost mega money but that is the department we need strengthening the most. Right backs, left backs, midfielders – we have enough to survive
