Report – Rafa Benitez Wants David Lutz And Other Top Players In January

There’s a report from Keith Downie of Sky Sports that Rafa Benitez wants to bring some top players into Newcastle this January, but that it will be difficult to get the players he is after.

One of the players we were linked with recently was David Luiz who wants first team football so he can make the Brazil squad for the World Cup, but there doesn’t seem much chance of that happening.

The other two players Rafa wants are from Liverpool, another club he has managed and they are both strikers – Danny Ings and Daniel Sturridge.

David Luiz – Rafa wants him on loan

Benitez still doesn’t know the extent of his transfer budget, but these are all loan deals and wouldn’t cost a lot of money in relative terms.

This is what Keith Downie has reported on Sky Sports:

“He’s looked at David Luiz this window,” “He’d like to bring him on loan until the end of the window but there’s no chance of that happening.”

“He’d like to bring in Daniel Sturridge from Liverpool and Danny Ings but these aren’t going to happen.”

“For one they can’t afford it and two he hasn’t even been told the budget.”

We can afford to get players on loan – we would need to pay a loan fee and their wages for five months.

Newcastle can afford that – but we can only get two loan players in from English clubs.

And when Newcastle talk about not being able to afford players the alternative is losing at least £100M next season if we are relegated.

So the big picture has to be looked at.

Luiz did play for Chelsea on Saturday in the 0-0 draw at Norwich, and he could leave on loan – but only if Conte can get a replacement in.

And back in 2013 when Rafa took Chelsea to the Europa League Championship he called David Luiz one of the best defenders in the world.

This is what Conte has said:

“I was a player – I will understand if someone is worried for the World Cup. I will understand if someone is thinking in this way.”

“I prefer to have players very happy to stay here than to have players that are unhappy.”

“Because when you are unhappy you transfer this to the other players, to me and to my staff and I don’t like this.”

“I like to avoid this situation.”

One way to do that is to let Luiz leave on loan,  but where would Conte get a suitable replacement in for the center-back over the next three weeks?

But Rafa could have some success in getting one of Danny Ings or Daniel Sturridge on loan this month.

And strikers are what we need the most through the end of the season.

But there’s no way Jurgen Klopp would let both strikers leave on loan this month.

What do you think?

    Keith Downie – reporter extraordinaire.
The finest example of how to get paid for doing nothing.

David Luiz as the holding midfielder for us would be the stuff of dreams!!

Well I think we know that Rafa is at least looking at his 4th or 5th choice on the list and that will probably be a loan so he probably won’t get the experience he is badly needing it will most likely be a young prospect from one of the bigger teams

    From previous:-

Also re European League, what does the “bored” think? Would we rather be part of that and building an empire (see Guardian article on Man City) or would we rather be not part of it and enjoy the scraps at the rich man’s table? Cos you can bet your bottom dollar it will be one or the other – will there be promotion/relegation between the Premier League and the European League? Or will it be a closed shop?

    WHOOPS….

Inter Milan included no sell-on clause when they sold Philippe Coutinho to Liverpool in 2013 for £8.5million, Sky Sports News understands.

I would love the Toon to be in it, how much would it cost to sit in gallowgate end? Or to watch on TV?
Wouldn’t want SJP to become Emirates like people not even boithered to watch, proper fans priced out,

Bored as in I find this dull
Board as in sitting on one

    Lose as in not winning
Loose as in an animal running around

    There as in over there
    Their as in their things

You’re as in you’re not going to believe this
Your as in your things that belong to you

Me being a pain in the —- as in me being a pain in the – – – –

Seriously though a literacy teacher could get a job for life in Newcastle
