Newcastle Keen And Linked Heavily With Surprising New Transfer Target

According to talkSPORT Rafa Benitez is interested in taking Crystal Palace left-back Pape Souare to Newcastle on loan for the rest of the season.

And you would think that Palace would not be interested in loaning a player to one of their relegation rivals, but that’s not the case with both Newcastle and Palace said to be keen on the loan deal.

TalkSPORT’s Geoff Peters has said the two clubs have already held discussions about the loan.

It would be a big surprise if this happens, but it looks like the two managers, Rafa Benitez and Roy Hodgson both want the loan deal to happen.

Pape Souare – in action for Crystal Palace

Souare has been at Palace since January of 2015 on a deal through the summer of 2019 for a fee reported to be around £3.45M.

He came from Lille, but he has hardly played for Palace although he has 22 caps for Senegal.

Souare’s only played 6 times in the last two seasons for Palace, so they are probably willing to loan him out to Newcastle because they don’t rate the player too highly.

Souare has played 57 times in total for Palace.

Here’s the tweet from Geoff Peters.

We have to believe Rafa Benitez sees something in the player that he can develop at Newcastle.

Although Souare does seem like an unlikely target for Newcastle.

What do you think?

He’s a left back and better than haidara, if on loan I’d take him

He is crap. Rather keep Haidara than wasting money unnecessarily. Dummett is three times the player this guy is.

Defensive cover for the next 16 PL games
    Is all
    Rafa’s normal pragmatism

This could free up Mbemba for a move, unfortunately IMO, but in Rafa we trust, so we’ve got to hope it would be for the best.

    Why catchy,
Because we’re in the clarts, if it means keeping an extra few bodies in then the bigger picture is worth it.

Jib, we already have defensive cover for the next 16 PL games, does Mbemba and Haidara ring a bell?

Totally agree. If we want another inept left back, just recall Lazaars from Italy.

You were promising to give up being depressed in the New Year.
The business question earlier went straight over your head didnt it…. what a surprise!!
Ashley would not need to feature he would be history. The king is dead long live the king.
Why do you feel the need to comment on players you’ve never seen play? Or is it just just an inbult arrogance that causes you to feel you have more to offer the blog generally than those who have?

Surely Mwemba is known to us and the team and deserves to stay and play.
Sourare on the other hand is an unknown French player who can’t get games at Palace. Just wonder if Carr or Mondial still exert influence ?
Sounds like bored London press up to their usual uninspiring efforts as the January window is hardly awake yet.

Jib we have Dummett, Manquillo, Mbemba, Clark, and Haidare, all can play left back, do you still think it would be pragmatic to sign a left back from palace who cant get a game at palace, and they dont rate him, i actually think your one of the more intelligent people on this blog Jib, but i really dont see the logic in Newcastle going after this player Jib. HWTL.

Even If he’s crap or not then maybe a fresh new face might inspire the rest of the defence to get stuck in . He might also be a gem waiting to shine given the chance. Normally we lose the gems to other teams. It would be nice for us to benefit for a change. Fingers, legs , arms ,teeth and anything else crossable, Crossed .
