Newcastle Reported To Be Close To A Striker Breakthrough

Sky Sports are reporting that West Ham are keen to sign Newcastle center-back Chancel Mbemba who has little playing time under Rafa Benitez.

The Magpies are said to be willing to let Chancel go to our relegation rivals and the club are hoping they can do a swap deal involving Hammer’s striker Diafra Sakho, who is available this month.

Mbemba moved to Newcastle in the summer of 2015 for around £10M from Anderlecht, so it will be interesting to see if the deal goes through how much Newcastle have to pay in addition to get Sakho.

The Hammers need a center-back and were after Swansea center-back Alfie Mawson as their top target, but not surprisingly, Swansea do not want to sell.

Diafro Sakho – West Ham striker

Swap deals are a decent possibility for Newcastle in addition to loan deals since they tend to cut down on the ready cash needed to get transfers completed.

However, Rafa will need to bring in a replacement for Mbemba before he can sanction any deal for Sakho, so we’re not sure where that center-back would come from.

We have been linked with center-back Jack Hendry of Dundee recently, and Celtic are also interested in signing the Glaswegian this month.

We do have players like Paul Dummett and Isaac Hayden who can play at center-back, but it seems Rafa will insist on another centre-back coming in before any swap deal is done.

Crystal Palace seemed to be well in the lead to sign Sakho but there are now doubts as to whether that deal will go through – it seems to be touch and go.

Sky Sports reported only yesterday that Palace had agreed a fee for Sakho of between £10M and £12M so maybe it could be a straight swap between Mbemba and Sakho?

The Senegal International has scored four goals in 17 appearances for West Ham this season but has yet to start a Premier League game.

He would be a very useful addition to the Newcastle team – if we can get him.

Sakho for half a season to lead the line. I’d take that. Just as a stop gap. Certainly a massive improvement on Josiere.

Mbemba to West Ham – absolute joke. Who’s his replacement, Kenedy? Another mess of a window.

something is way wrong with this deal, strikers are normally more expensive than defenders, and Mbemba is a good defender, even if Rafa does not want him, where as this kid from west ham has not made it at a prem team, so why would he be worth the same money.

Utter madness, and sheer incompetence if true, wasting more money along with all the othe money he has wasted.

out of all the players he has brought, only Merino will be worth more money, and that’s kind of amazing in this rising market for footballers

DubaiMicky, I have absolutely no idea what you are waffling on about. I claimed that if another party is interested in buying the club, then they will be the third party to look at the books, as PCP and whoever they represent will have looked at the numbers. Simple math.

You can follow that logic, can’t you?

Frank: “Ancient c – all signs Point to this New interested party being fake.”

That may be so, but Rotonda claims he “knew” it was fake. I am just curious how he could know that.

“if you think that PCP as a potential owner, then there won’t be one or two individuals or consortium that they represent also in the process.

    Obviously that would never happen”

    You have to laugh.

And Sakho’s goal scoring record is 4 in 17 , hasn’t played in the Premier League this season and West Ham want to get rid to get their grubby tax payers funded club money on Mbemba who clearly has talent.

    That’s not a good trade

He was alright a few seasons ago lochinvar. Did he not take himself off to another club in the summer and have a medical and stuff without West Hams permission ? Might explain why he hasn’t been getting a look in this season.

i like the way we’ve played recently without a big target man. only rumour i like the sound of is iheanacho,
quick, mobile, skilful, knows where the net is. surprised we weren’t all over him in the summer. sakho does nothing for me i’m afraid, especially after all his injuries.
