Darlow, Shelvey, Diame, Gayle, And Perez All Start Against Swansea City

Rafa Benitez has just announced his team to play Swansea City this afternoon in what is a vital home game against a team 6 points below us in the Premier League table.

The only surprise s that Mo Diame starts in place of Mikel Merino -= otherwise the team we predicted would start would have been accurate – for a change.

But credit to Diame because the last few games he has played he’s been in good form so we have to think he’s looking good in training.

Karl Darlow keeps his place in goals with Rob Elliot on the bench.

Mo Diame – starts in central midfield with Jonjo Shelvey

Almost four fans in five think we can win this game this afternoon and go to 25 points after 23 games played.

Hope so!

Would have swapped Murphy for the Richie due to his shocking form over the last few months. The rest I am happy with.

9/11 for me, thought Rafa would prefer Manquillo over Dummett and Murphy for Ritchie but that team should have the beating of Swansea.

Hopefully Ritchie uses this game to get back to form. He has been horrible. But pleased to see diame starting. He has done really really well recently and I hope it continues. Confident today.

Our championship team should beat a premier league Swansea team?

    Shows how important Rafa is.

It may be a championship squad but Atsu, shelvey lascelles, dummett, Ritchie and definitely premier level at the least from that XI.

No, it’s the exact same team that we used in the championship.

The fact that we have had to resort to it for one of our most important games of the season shows exactly why Ashley needs to get the *beep* out.

But it’s okay for Ashley, he’s made a tasty profit whilst Rafa has been in charge, he’s simply using Rafa’s tactical genius as a way to make profit knowing we’ll stay up with minimum spending. I hate the man.

Still looking forward to the game, cmon toon!!!!

Jeff Stelling on SSN just now,

“The Newcastle problems just go on and on and on.”

It’s nice to see the world of football also feels our pain.

They’re going to have a little chin wag about us between now an KO. Gun to my head and speakers on full volume white noise ready for when Merson opens his pie hole.

Happy with the team. Manquillo bit unlucky to miss out but Rafa probably wants more defense on the left. Hopefully Dummett can provide some supprt to Atsu

Can’t really argue with that. Perez has always been a player I like and is technically good enough to play for the likes of man City. Delighted rafa is ignoring Joselu.

https://twitter.com/SwansOfficial/status/952178423954268160 That Swansea lineup isn’t exactly intimidating. Clucas will have a point to prove, and Olsson always worries me on set pieces, but aside from that, I would like to think it should be plain sailing.

I haven’t looked at any posts on this thread but am reasonably confident that the whingers’ cheerleader, Cap’n Catchy will have had or will have his three penn’orth banging on with the same old record.

Maybe Catchy could have a chat with Rafa when he’s at the match today or if today’s not possible, the next time he’s at SJP?

Watched some of the Sundaland game and they are seriously poor, Cardiff weren’t looking like they were that good either but it was still men against boys.

Coleman must be kicking himself for taking on that poisoned chalice of a team.

I was wrong – no post from Cap’n Catchy.

He’s either happy with the line up or even at SJP now.

    Not what I said.

I just stated the fact that we are starting our team from the championship.

Swansea are nothing without sigurdson which is why they are immensely struggling.

I think we should beat them, it’s just very telling that we have to use this squad. If Rafa didn’t have to go looking for bargains in the summer this game wouldn’t even mean as much as it does because we’d be safe.
