Report – Mike Ashley Sanctions The Signing Of Three New Players For Rafa In January

Press Association Sport are reporting that the Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez has been given the OK to sign up to three players in this January transfer window.

The go-ahead has been given by current owner Mike Ashley who seems to have come to his senses and realized (and been persuaded by Rafa) that new players are needed if Newcastle are to remain a premier league club for next season.

Rafa has argued for a while that he needs reinforcements if Newcastle are to survive and PA reports Ashley has finally agreed with that argument.

Well – that was easy!

🙂

Mike Ashley – sanctions the signing of 3 new players

Not so sure why it took two weeks into this transfer window for Mike to sanction this?

However, PA Sport report the funds available to Rafa will be limited – but hopefully enough to buy three good players?

Benitez can also boost his transfer funds by selling current members of the squad, with Jack Colback, Henri Saivet, Chancel Mbemba, Aleksandar Mitrovic, and Dwight Gayle all possibly available to leave Newcastle this month.

But it’s tricky because Rafa will not sell unless he has a replacement lined up.

So for example – if Newcastle are able to sell Dwight Gayle to Fulham for around £15M Rafa must have another striker coming in before that deal can be completed.

There has also been some doubt cast on the news in both the Star and the Express today that Amanda Staveley has made a new offer more than £300M for Newcastle.

But the most critical thing in the next two weeks is for Rafa to get good players through the door but we have no idea of the level of funds Mike Ashley has given to Rafa (and Lee Charnley) to spend.

Newcastle are said to be close to signing 27-year-old left-back Pape Souare from Crystal Palace, and it seems like Fulham – as we mentioned – could be willing to pay £15M for Dwight Gayle.

There are just 16 days left before the window closes so we hope we can get in three or four good players by the beginning of next month.

That would definitely lift the spirits of Newcastle fans everywhere.

Then we need the takeover to complete before the end of this season – so Rafa will stay at the club.

Howay the Lads!!

£15mil for Gayle, but they wouldnt pay anything near that in the Summer. How has his price inflated considering hes only scored a handful of goals this season??? Laughable rumour.

If that’s genuine news on transfer options and not false hope then that’s a start.
But taking Souare on loan instead of Kenedy is hardly breaking the bank.

If Gayle’s head has been turned by the prospect of returning to the smog then so be it. He’s an East London boy and maybe his family life dictates that he wants to be down there which maybe fair enough.

If we get £15m each for Mitro and Gayle is that £30m the spending fund ? Because if it is it won’t go far in getting the more physical no 10, effective striker and keeper that Rafa seems to have targeted.

I see this window ending with the club having spent less than it took in…again. I think at a minimum Colback, Saivet, and one of Mitro or Gayle will be sold before the end of the month, with loans the only inbound with the exception being a bargain basement squad player, possibly. That’s if any business is done at all. Of course, I would love to be proven wrong on all accounts; not likely with our tightwad owner, however.

Meanwhile Fat Sam is closing in on trying to sign Theo Walcott for £20m to add to his firepower as well as Cenk Tosun who may have made the biggest mistake of his career.
Don’t give any credence to Everton fans wishes that they can sign Lascalles for £6,3million it’s just something they came up with in kindergarten before the teacher took away their sharp pointy pencils for their own safety.

Gayle can score plenty of goals in the Championship like he did for us, so £15m or more is the right price.

Mike Ashley in his 10 years at #nufc has used the divide and conquer method to split fans. He wants us to argue online about #NUFC takeover and #rafa because a support at loggerheads with each other is a weak support. Stand together. Be as one. Agree to disagree. But stay UNITED

See you having a pop at me for imparting some info…you impart info and it’s false as your only guessing .

I impart info and it’s correct ..I report on the two Arsenal players 2 days ago ..it appears in the media 2 days after Iv told you about it.

I report on the police at st james last night ..I get some stick for it early doors yesterday in effect , it’s now being reported on radio today ..you heard it here first though

Best never ever be ITK as you always shoot the messenger..I’m done with writing down and posting anything else I hear.

Yeah…I don’t think, after VvD went to LFC for 75m that Lascelles will be sold for anything below 25m. Once he gets his cap, that value will shoot up into the stratosphere…upwards of 40-50m.

That talk is kind of like people saying we’ll sign Sanchez off of Arsenal…not ever going to happen considering his wage demands are more than triple our highest earner at the club currently, let alone the 35m price tag. The difference being, Everton might actually pay that stupid money for wor captain if the past 12 months are any indication.

I mentioned schurrle last week. He’s been saying he wants games and willing to leave in jan, permanent or loan. Dortmund are open to him leaving. His agent has been touting him to clubs. Upgrade on gayle he is and for me he was good at Chelsea.

    OG,

You knew it was coming so I don’t know why you’re getting so defensive over people having a pop at you. I will say that the majority of people (myself included) appreciate the little snippets from people, even if they turn out to be unrelated (i.e. police at SJP last night), or don’t come to fruition.

Kind of like we used to say when I was in the military, 5% of your soldiers take up 95% of your time. It’s the same here. 5% of the posters try to ruin it for the remaining 95%. Either way, if you choose not to post anything else, fair play.

I can’t see that selling Gayle would weaken the squad based on his performances this season, if someone is willing to pay £10/15m for him then Rafa should snap their fingers off.

So Mr Ashley has sanctioned bringing in up to 3 players.

Now we just need Mr Charnley to get them over the line. I still don’t expect to see a single new player in by the close of the transfer window.

    From NUFC.com
    “Same old same old

We promised not to bother you with anything takeover-related until there was something of substance to report.

And despite fresh tabloid claims of activity, that situation hasn’t changed.

What we can add is that an associate of Amanda Staveley was due to attend last Saturday’s game against Swansea, but that no meetings with any Sports Direct or NUFC officials were scheduled.

PS: nowt new on signings either, if you wondered.”

Being realistic, I would take Giroud or Slimani on loan, as I don’t think there’s any way FatAsh would sanction permanent deals for either. If that link for Giroud to BvD is correct, that’s another opportunity lost. Oh well, status quo under the fat man.

Getting rid of Gayle now would be a huge mistake, unless we had a couple of better strikers coming in to replace him. Had a poor game at the weekend but think he’s done ok this season.
