The bad news last night was that Mike Ashley has ended negotiations with Amanda Staveley and her group to buy Newcastle and it has left the club in limbo.
And it’s right in the middle of what is a very important transfer window for Newcastle and we have no new arrivals yet with just 14 days left.
It’s yet another mess created by owner Mike Ashley who continually refuses to back his managers in the transfer windows.
That is one reason we have fought relegation in four of the last seasons we have been in the Premier League.
It can all become very depressing.
Mike Ashley – has brought havoc to Newcastle
Rafa Benitez is fighting the owner to get funds so he can save Ashley’s club from another damaging relegation and it will be the worst of the three if it does happen in May.
And we cannot think that Mr. Benitez is too pleased about things this season after Ashley broke his word in the summer on the funds that would be available for Rafa to bring in new players.
Currently, we are just 3 points above the relegation zone and even one of the favorites to take the drop – especially if we cannot improve the squad by February.
Other clubs have big money they are willing to spend this month to improve their squads for the second part of the season.
Rafa is like a manager with both hands tied behind his back.
Mike Ashley has no idea how to run a football club.
And when the new TV rights deal is announced – maybe late next month – and expected to be a big increase on the current £5.1B deal – he may think twice about selling Newcastle.
And if he does that it will be yet another disaster for Newcastle United.
The club could soon be looking for a new manager to replace world-class Rafa who will have had enough of the owner by the summer if Ashley remains the owner.
If Rafa leaves it’s because of the dreadful way he has been treated by Mike Ashley – Rafa will not put up with this kind of treatment for much longer.
This is not a positive article, but unfortunately, it does reflect the current situation at the club.
What do you think?
