Two Things Troubling Newcastle Fans Today – Rafa Leaving And Ashley Staying

There are at least a couple of things troubling Newcastle fans this morning.

One is that with Mike Ashley has never treated Rafa Benitez like the world-class manager. and the owner is making it very difficult for Rafa to strengthen the squad this month.

And there are doubts Mike Ashley will actually sell the club and that this could be another rouse to distract Newcastle fans while little money is being spent by the club on new players.

Rafa could walk in the summer – and maybe even before that.

It’s clear that Rafa will see no future at Newcastle if Ashley remains the owner.

And that could still happen if the new TV rights deal for the Premier League is massive (as expected) when announced next month.

After all, the only thing we are sure about with Mike Ashley is that he likes money (in the bank).

It’s a serious situation Newcastle are in right now, but we have to support Rafa and the players and hopefully, we can get some wins on the board and climb the league table.

But these distractions related to selling the club are having a negative impact at Newcastle.

Rafa Benitez – Newcastle manager

This is a good post.

Watch what Rafa does. That’s where the truth will lie. If it’s off he’ll be away. If it’s brinkmanship he may be told to keep his powder dry and sit tight.

    Danishmagpie –

From reading all the information in line

From listening to jim white on talksport back track on the Alan Brazil show (he said he still thinks the deal will be done)

    Because Rafa will stay

    Gut feeling

Because all of it doesn’t add up

Because their is a offer on the table (although to low)

Because of the massive amount of due dillegence

    Because pcp haven’t walked away

They will not up their bid until we are safe from relegation.

Until that threat is removed, Ashley will not accept what they have offered.

Unless Ashley pays for new players, relegation is a real threat and xould go down to the last game of the season.

Ashley is rrluctant to spend and protect his asset

    Result…….Mexican stand off.

So what happends if we go down.

Value of NUFC will probably halve or more (£100m)

He will have a fire sale and sell whoever he can for whatever he can get…….probably another £100m.

Whatever money is due to the club, he will pocket….probably another £100m.

But he is still stuck with a club that noone wants and with Rafa and his entourage gone, nobody but untried kids, free transfers and has beens on his playing staff and someone like Kevin Nolan as manager.

    However, if we stay up……….

Give it up mate, you’ll make yourself ill. How many times have we heard ”it’s the hope that kills you”.

All Ash’s faux remarks apologising for his treatment of KK, Shearer etc and how he wouldn’t stand in the way of a richer owner really sicken me now.

Dubai I don’t think you can take too much kudos by suddenly changing the goal posts by now saying the Middle Eastern group will definitely buy some club.

If we had a pound for every time all those people who said the deal is done . . . . . . !!!!

If no decent transfers come in and Rafa walks, I hope we do go down, because this isn’t a proper club any more. It’s a soul-less shell that’s been hi-jacked by a meglamaniacal little despot and is now little more than a charade in name only.

Interesting stuff. We should definitely be able to see something in rafa’s press conference. His mood should tell us if he is content with the situation. We can only wait and see what happens.

To my knowledge there has been no official statements released by either party or any official PR representative.

All the media coverage is rumour, conjecture and speculation.

In business if there’s a statement to be made Call a press conference, announce your news and hand out the printed version for scrutiny.

This fiasco is like reading the Beano. Cartoon characters with no substance.

So Amanda Staveley is “ understood to be devastated” ? Really ? Who says so ?
I haven’t seen any interviews with her sobbing into her handkerchief amid claims that she’ll seek therapy to get over this.

Ashley, Charnley and particularly Bishop – have they stood in front of any cameras or microphones ? Thought not. If they do they might have to choose their words carefully about whether or not formal offers have been made to buy the club otherwise they may find that the laws of libel and slander are relevant.

All we see or hear are snidey soundbites, playground gossip and woe is me type whispers. Sky play along with this tattle.

    Pathetic.
    Unprofessional.
    Incompetent.
    Unworthy.

But maybe perfectly framed in the style of Elliot Carver from the Bond film. No money available on the face of it for NUFC to pay over the odds for transfers. So if we do any transfer business it’s about pleading relative poverty to secure our targets and not spending the near £50million than Everton have splurged on Tousan and Walcott. Tomorrow is another day.

It’s actually embarrassing, pundits and outsiders were already rubbing their grubby little hands at this whole thing being drawn out and rumbling on and on, now this is just a shambles man!!
Well and truly FED UP with Cashley and his horrible undeserved mistreatment of this amazing and proud club.
How can Rafa take training as normal today and motivate the squad, never mind prepare for the match against one of the most potent attacking teams in the world?!!?
And how can we possibly stumble blindly along towards another ridiculous relegation fight after all this?!!?
No lessons learned, no support, no communication, no decency, and no respect for the best manager we could have hoped to attract and for the best and most loyal fans in the land.
    It’s like a horrible dream..

Just to get back to football I said yesterday three young hungry players with potential is what we should be looking at but with further thought maybe a cross section of players on loan

I’d go for Batshit on loan or try to buy Demvele if we have enough funds.
Schurlle on loan or swap Cairney for Gayle.
Reina on loan or pretty much any keeper as I think Elliot and Darlow are Shite

So, PCP have been a complete waste of Ashley’s time.
Think about the timing. Why did he not come out with this at the end of January. He could have then said to supporters it’s off, but I’m the owner, I’m taking the responsibility, this is what we are going to do in this window.
Carefully timed for now I think. Why exactly.
No time left to do business ? Perhaps.

What’s the wage bill at NUFC.
Is it 45-55 million. With TV money the turnover could be 145 million.
Should still be able to do deals.
Problem is we have so many players that contribute nothing.
Mitro, Saivet, etc etc. Hard to move them out.

Rafa would have been Told Loan Players Only He Tried and was Told Sorry No Chance and also Told The Amanda Stavely Deal was 99% OFF… Rafa has a Big Decission to make Stay for the Fans or Leave Because the Poor Guy Cant Take us any Further Under Ashley… NO one wants to deal with Ashley so Basicly were Knackered until He Croaks … Next season People will Just Cancel Season Tickets and Gates will drop as were ALL Sick of the Piss Taking…

    Purely football.
We’d have another 6 points, but for poor goal keeping.
Is that so difficult to fix.

    We need a CF.

Midfield, we never get a grip on a game where it is won or lost. Don’t have the legs there for a start. Hence the same old tactic, try to win from sitting back, 35% of possession. Worked just enough in the Championship although not all the time. Won’t work enough of the time in the Premier League.

Its simple, until an official statement from NUFC/Ashley/PCP is released, take everything with a pinch of salt. As much as this could be a tactic by Ashley to break the stalemate and come across as the good guy he has be very careful. As Dubai mentioned, pride/ego is a massive thing in Middle Eastern culture, potential buyer may see this as an insult and walk away from it.

A right mess for all concerned. PCP don’t appear to have pushed too hard, with one offer left gathering dust. As usual the fan base takes a shafting. The optimisim on here is sad, but laughable. When has NUFC (bar brief KK and SBR interludes) been a source of hope ? Never. Onto Fat Mike, he’s in a mess now. It’s like the Jim Bowen moment at the end of Bullseye. 101 or more in 6 darts for tonight’s top prize – staying in the Prem. He has to buy 3 decent players (no change out of 30M here) to guarantee this. Otherwise his grubby chubby paws miss out on oodles of cash from the TV deal. Rafa will walk and the club will struggle to come back in one season (last season we were pretty pitiful in most games, regardless of the end result). The club could easily do a ‘Sunderland’ and with League One beckoning the Obese One wouldn’t get 50M even if he’s on his knees begging.
You would think there’s a sensible solution hidden in there somewhere. Until you remember we’re talking about NUFC, a club historically renowned for giving sensible solutions the swerve. It gets much worse from here, folks.

The timing of this suggests the door is still open.

PCP obviously leaked the £300m bid to get the wheels moving again and this is Ashley’s response to get them to up the bid.

He doesn’t want to invest, he wants out and certainly doesn’t want to be stuck with a Rafa-less relegated club and mutinous fanbase.

Let’s just hope PCP’s client is still interested.

Except the NDA is now void as vital I formation is now leaked.

Gutted about the news but I believe both parties should be blamed and not just solely on Mike.

PCP apparently wanted a clause that if Newcastle got relegated this season Mike would have to pay back 100-150 million meet the club valuation!

Now who would want this deal? Also with PCP apparently offered 250 million when they knew the price was 300 million?

Sorry but Mike was smart to cancel this deal especially this far into the window as even Mike knows Rafa needs players now not later.

At least now we can see movements in the window with hopefully good players coming in.
