Rafa Now Surprisingly Upbeat On Transfer Window – Money Is Available

Rafa Benitez had hoped to have all his players in by today, January 20th but he has been able to get not one player through the door, and it’s not for want of trying.

That’s the bad news, but the good news is that we found out yesterday that Mike Ashley and Lee Charnley are both working on trying to get the players Rafa wants through the door before the end of the month.

Rafa seems hopeful some players can even be signed in the next few days.

Rafa Benitez – now upbeat about possible transfers

This is some of what Rafa said yesterday as reported in the Chronicle and Rafa even seems  optimistic:

“We will see now during the window but the message was positive.”

“It was really positive the message so we will see where we are at the end of the window.”

“Yes. The targets are there, the prices are there. The board know the prices so we will see.”

“We are working on it. I don’t know if anything is closer, but we have the green light to bring players in.”

“That is positive that there will be some money spent this month.”

“It will be a red light when we get to the end of the transfer window, but it is a green light now.”

“We have to believe we can do what we need to do right up until January 31.”

You can never accuse Rafa of not doing his job to the full, and it seems the players he wants are unchanged from what he presented to the Newcastle hierarchy in late December.

But the good news is that Mike Ashley may now be involved in trying to get the players in.

He must realize if we are relegated he’s likely to lose around £150M or more in the price he can get for Newcastle United.

At least he seems to have woken up.

And Rafa has also said he doesn’t need to know how much money is available because the club will try to get his targets in either on loan or permanently if that is needed to get the player.

When asked at his presser how much money
    he had available
    Rafa replied
“That’s not important , if players are available (and they are on my list )
we will try to get them”

If Rafa walks at the end of the season, with Cashley
still the owner, value of the Club goes down.

Nothing to stop PCP then buying us and re-hiring Rafa.

Has to be loans. Any permanent signing would want
a get-out in case of relegation, and that would mean
we could lose a good player for peanuts.

Toonincheek- you mean if we stay up ? Rafa walks , value will go down ?

That won’t matter , Ashley will have a premier league club, tv deal sorted , he will want £350+ all day long without clauses

    No one will pay that
The labs begind the ground isn’t apart of the deal that’s worth £60 Million
We don’t even own the ground
    Squad is Pis5 poor

If we go down yes price will go down
Think he would want £200 Million even if it’s only worth £125/150 Million

Money is Ashley’s first and only love

    Agree about loans

No one will sign for money (how do we get them to sign ??) how do you sell the club to anyone / with what vision for the future

We won’t be offering great wages or wages to compete with other premier league teams

    Loans are the only option

It will be Kenedy plus 2 others

If we do spend it will be 6 Million at maximum (that’s total spend)

2 loans and a poor average permanent signing

    Frank,

I’m guessing that the Club value would go down
a little if Rafa leaves, but probably more significant
would be that PCP offer would be withdrawn.

Then, with no other ready buyers, value will go down.
But – that doesn’t mean Cashley would sell at a lower
    price.

Any new broadcasting deal would also affect the value.

Well all we can do for now is support the team and see what happens in the next few months

If he is still here in the summer then it’s time for heavy pressure / protests / action / catapult action /

As hard as possible (metaphorically speaking)

It’s not the lack money that’s the issue it could be the lack of players on the list

    Walcott – gone to Everton
Luke Shaw – Mourinho now wants to keep him
Sturridge – Jamie Redknapp encouraging him to go to Italy to play
Eder, international striker ( at 31 too old for Mikeys age embargo) who plays for Inter Milan targeted by Palace
Tosun – made the mistake of going to Everton

Hope Rafa has some interesting targets then

Probably keeper ,Kenedy maybe, and Josh Murphy ? As to a striker that leaves Ings who is reported doesn’t want to come.
Just hope there are some good surprises within the next eleven days – Sky’s last night Transfer drama series will be excruciating

If there is one thing that I’m underwhelmed with in Rafa’s era…. I was hoping for his vast / worldwide range of contacts in the game to yield more little-known gems in terms of signings. I know we are hampered by our notoriously slow / dithering deal making but still…

Conti scratched the Kenedy loan deal last week. I think it’s our lot giving it legs because there is nothing else on the radar.

Let’s hope he doesn’t waste this money as well, we could do without any more signings like Selz, Manquillo, Joselu, Murphy, Lejuene etc etc

IMHO it all stinks of rotten fish. If Rafa knew weeks ago, it was before Mash went on his hols. If that is so why was there all the talk of loan signings and who we could or couldn’t get because he did not know his budget??? Now as I said weeks ago why does he need to know a budget, he just need to say I want so and so and its then up to the board to go get them or not.
Just does not make sense to me what is being span out now, who do you believe?
For a start I never believe anything that comes out of the M.A camp for obvious reasons, proven porkies etc, and the convenient buyer who is willing to pay £350m for the club the day M.A returns from his hols…..Oh then disapears into thin air and never named or talked about again. The usual gobsh** he has spun for over a decade and some still swallow it, and even worse believe it. The ultimate schoolboy bully playing on the affections of fans who are loyal to the end, its disgraceful and deceitful but some fall for it over and again. What is worse is those loyal fans attend games in their 50K+ and M.A takes that as everything is fine and his coffers are fed so he is more than happy. Sad thing is those loyal fans are tying M.A to the club as he is screwing the golden goose for the very last egg and is going to sell the carcass and the droppings for as much as he can get. Even if we go down and the value of the club is 100-150m he has made many times that over the years so the club does not owe him anything, he is toying with us now and looking for ways to twist the knife into the stupid geordies who dared to conspire against him and his mafia.
