The Mail is reporting that Newcastle are considering making a loan move for Borussia Dortmund forward Andre Schurrle this January since the player has been made available for a loan move.
The 57 times capped German International hasn’t been getting much playing time in Germany this season and Dortmund are said to be willing to pay half of his £150K/week wages to get him out on loan.
Andre Schurrle played at Chelsea from 2013-2015, and he set up the winning goal in the World Cup final four years ago when Germany beat Argentina 1-0 after extra time.
He is a talented player, and he would be a great addition at Newcastle if we can get afford him.
27-year-old Andre Schurrle – World Cup winning forward
Schurrle has made just six Bundesliga appearances this season, and he has also been struggling with a number of injuries.
Dortmund want him to play in England for a Premier League club on loan for the rest of the season.
The other club said to be interested in the 27-year-old are Stoke City.
Schurrle signed for Borussia Dortmund eighteen months ago on a five-year deal, but he has so far been a big disappointment since he arrived from Wolfsburg for £25M.
If Rafa is indeed interested, he could offer the German International a chance to revitalize his career at Newcastle.
The player has enormous talent, and while he would be expensive, Schurrle has the class and experience we are missing in the Newcastle side this season.
Andre can play on either wing or up front as a striker, and his versatility would also be a benefit to Newcastle.
We’ll have to wait and see, but if Newcastle can sign the player and he remains fit, Schurrle could definitely help us survive in the Premier League this season.
