Newcastle in the last few days have been linked with a lot of players in different positions, and while obviously, they will not all arrive at Newcastle this month it does give us a hint about who Rafa will go after in the summer.
Rafa will want to upgrade most positions in his team which has been struggling in the Premier League so far this season.
That’s always assuming we will still be a Premier League club by then and Rafa is still our manager.
We hope both of those will become true this summer and we’ll breathe a (very) massive sigh of relief if and when both of those events happen.
Bruno Perez – 27-year-old Roma right-back
There is a report in Italian newspaper Il Temps that Newcastle have enquired about Roma right-back Bruno Peres.
West Ham United are the other club who have enquired about the 27-year-old who only moved to Roma on loan in 2016 and made the deal permanent last summer.
The Brazilian right-back moved to Italy and Torino from Santos in June 2014.
Bayern Munich and PSG are reported to have been interested in the 5ft 10ins players, and he said to be available for a reasonable £8M.
Bruno could be one of Rafa’s (many) transfer targets this summer.
Perez has played 16 times for Roma this season, and in total, he has made 60 appearances for the Rome club with 2 goals and 5 assists.
When he was at Torino he played 68 times with 7 goals and 12 assists.
Comments welcome.

Good call, Giroud would be good IMO. Though people were saying he was henpecked and his boss wouldn’t let him go any more northern than he already is.

Kenedy will join on Loan 100%
We will get a striker in on loan probably someone like Danny Ings
Then either a Goal keeper /or left back
Max spend 6/7 Million
Tv announced next month – price probably a slight increase 10% max (viewing figures are currently down )
Pcp will put in an offer of 300 Million no clauses (then let’s see what happens)
All (gut feeling )

Comment #54Any talk of record breaking transfers for a striker rules out Troy Deeney who’s Joselu Mk2. Just hope that it’s someone significant probably from outside the UK.
Or we’re back to loans such as Sturridge or Ings.

Comment #59Not sure Macas. The Watford appointment must have been in the pipeline for a few weeks going by how quickly it happened. So he could’ve already assessed the squad. It might be the Leicester guy though.

Comment #60Won’t be Deeney(thank god) or Giroud, but possibly could be Slimani or Gameiro if age hasn’t been a factor.
If I had to bet though my money would be on Rafa pulling off a real shock that nobody saw coming…

Comment #61Personally I’m liking the thought of Kenedy on the left and Murphy down the right with a proper goal scorer in the middle, lovely.

Comment #62Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson has distanced
the club from reports linking left-back Joe Bryan with
a move to the Premier League side Newcastle United.
The former Barnsley and Oldham coach responded
to the latest transfer rumours when asked at the
pre-Man City press conference on Monday afternoon.
Johnson explained that so far there have been no bids.

Comment #69Not a lot to argue with here
The Magpies have a decent unit that can beat teams on their days but it is quite evident that they need additions in a couple of positions, before they can compete with the best. While the midfield might need a bit of a re-jig, Rafa is in desperate need of a striker, who can improve their goal scoring record and Schurrle is a decent bet.
He likes to take on his man and is adept at finding space even in congested areas in and around the box, while his technique and calm head are hard for even the best of the defenders to handle.
At just 27, he has played in 195 Bundesliga games and is an experienced striker, who can well walk into most teams in England.
The likes of Joselu, Ayoze Perez and Dwight Gayle have not done enough to warrant a place in the first team and though the likes of Islam Slimani, Daniel Sturridge, Sandro Ramirez and Danny Ings have interested the manager, Schurrle and his qualities are better suited to his style of play. Taking him a loan, with decent wages, might just be the biggest coup for the Magpies this season.

The 50 million I quoted yesterday doesn’t seem far off.
I know everyone has there doubts about the transfers but we must remember it ain’t the first time Mike had to involve himself to get deals done, remember the 4 players he brought in when we were in the same exact predicament?
Mike has his hands full atm with offers to his club and Rafa contract as with both are part of a future deal.
Mike wants to fully sell this club regardless of the tv money involved and this is why he will invest.
If Rafa ain’t happy with the players brought in he walks after June or end of season.

Comment #77I think the Sandro Ramirez on loan has definitely got legs, he’s Spanish and Rafa wanted him in the summer.
Agree that Schurrle would be a great signing and would really upgrade our front line…..
As long as this isn’t just PR smokescreen to drift us hoping into February then wheel out the trunk full of excuses for not completing transfers for its bi-annual day in the spotlight………

Comment #79I know I was only joking about preferring Akinfenwe to Deeney, but after watching the “Goal Rush” highlights I don’t think it’s such a daft idea.
Nobody but nobody pushes him around and he’s a lot quicker than you’d expect him to be.
Good in the air as well.
Wouldn’t be very costly either.

Comment #80Rafa’s contract renewal up for discussion? Record breaking signings?
And by coincidence it’s coming up to season ticket renewal time?
Yes, it’s always been the case when everything’s made to look as the the owners got some ambition but in years gone by, Shepherd and Hall did deliver the goods. Has Ashley? Can he be trusted to do so?
I’m not a season ticket holder for geographical reasons but understand why those who are, invest their money, heart and soul in the club. Those of you who are due to renew, it might be wise to think about your investment – by renewing you’re effectively endorsing Ashley’s mismanagement by giving him your cash upfront.
Food for thought – there’s nowt stopping you going to matches and supporting the lads on the pitch as and when you choose to spend your money.
Ashley relies on your cash, do you want to give it to him?
