This Striker Not Coming To Newcastle – Strike Him Off The List

News today in the Mail that Leicester City striker Islam Slimani will likely be joining Monaco this month on loan.

That seems to rule out any chance Newcastle have of signing the talented Algerian International – a player we were hoping could arrive at Newcastle this month.

Leicester are said to be very close to agreeing a deal that would take the 29-year-old on loan to Monaco.

So one obvious question – why didn’t Newcastle get in there to get Slimani on loan, even if he’s in addition to Jorgensen?

Islam Slimani – Leicester striker very close to loan deal at Monaco

The answer is that Leicester City would not loan the player to a Premier League club and only sell him for £20M if he was to remain playing in the Premier League.

But as we reported yesterday we think Slimani would be a better buy for £20M than Jorgensen.

The loan fee is said to be £2.6M.

That’s certainly a similar stance Newcastle will likely take with Aleksandar Mitrovic.

We will only sell him to a relegation-threatened Premier League club if they pay £14.5M – preferably up front – for the Serbian striker.

It looks like Newcastle could be all-in now for Danish striker Jorgensen from Feyenoord, so let’s hope we can get him through the door in the next day or two.

If Mitro is as bad as rafa seems to think then why won’t he sell him to a relegation rivals?

If I was trouble causer then I’d be angling for a move away and letting my displeasure known to the world. Like cabaye did and HBA has done!! Especially seeing as it’s a world cup year

Re Mitro, I think the club is being incredibly unfair with him, he’s never going to play again for us yet we won’t let him go so that he has a chance of playing in the world cup. Personally i think that’s the mark or a rubbish employer.

Mitro will get his spot in the Serbia squad regardless if he plays much for us through the end of the season. I’d love to see him get a run of games for us in a similar set up to Serbia, the last few games they played 3-4-2-1 and Mitro was banging the goals in

I reviewed Jorgensen goals and there are a fair few terribly defended goals which he would not get at this level however I also think he shows a natural instinct for scoring, he also has a great ability for headed goals, scored some very good goals amongst them to. It’s true that the level of quality can sometimes hide how good or bad a striker is but the ones that have failed tend to be those thst you see scoring with no pressure on them. This lad gets amongst players and reacts quickly. I’d take him over what we have now. I’m no expert but I like the potential I see. Hope we get him and another on loan striker.

To me he looks similar to Mitrovic but maybe a better fit for Rafa ?

We do look better as a team when Mitro plays as he holds the ball up and it allows Perez and Richie to make runs with his flick ons but its clear Rafa doesn’t trust or rate him to do the job and sometimes thats the way its going to be !

There is a lot of strikers come from Holland and don’t make it but there are also ones that do pretty well and Pelle was a similar striker from the same club who done pretty well so there could be potential in there !

Would like to see us sign another striker as well if we do get him possibly Sandro or Chicarito as we need a bit more pace up top as well

I don’t think it’s a case of Rafa not rating Mitrovic I it’s he just doesn’t seem to like him personally and like you said he’s not one of his own signings.

Hell we need someone good in the air who gets into the opposition box

The number of crosses we have put over and
    a no one there
b it’s been a midget in the likes of Atsu , Perez, Gayle, Murphy, Ritchie or Joelu who seems to be ten yards behind

Ps gone for s win at Chelsea Toon to make it a bad week for Conte dumped out of both cups in 4 days

I would pair Mitro with Jorgensen ( If we get him ) They are both big strong lads and remember Shearer and Ferdinand together I know it was only for a short time but they were a formidable force . I’m not saying that they are the same as S & F but we will never know how good Mitro can be unless we give him a proper chance with guidance, When he came here he had this reputation that he had to live up to.
I honestly think they should rethink the sale of Mitro. He needs someone to show him the time when to be aggressive and not. He is an unpolished diamond and if sold watch him come good like so many others that left us in the past.

It’s simple really.. We have too many players now in the squad so someone has to go; saivet is apparently off away to turkey or somewhere. But still we have too many Over 21 aged players on the books. If we need a striker best options I can see are go back for Bas Dost or go for dembele at celtic.

My prefered move is 2 px swap deals… Cairney for gayle, and dembele for mitro. Then you get two big physical attackers who are young have played together previously and are good technically. a 9 and 10 partnership. You free up wages and squad places in the process and if both are rated at £20m ish then the difference is only gonna be about a spend of £10m brilliant business.

Jorgensen highlights some of his goals and movement look good he wins the ball lays it off and breaks his neck to get into a goal scoring position so simple but we don’t have that at the moment! You can’t teach that knack for sniffing out a goal

Joselu tries wins the ball but then drifts out wide or doesn’t get into a position where he can get his head onto it for a big man from a cross

I think people would be really disappointed if we were to sign Dembele from Celtic watched him loads up here and he only looks good because Celtic create about 40 chances a game !

Griffifths would be a much better striker out of the 2 to go for !

Geordie-John. Agree that Mitro hasn’t been given a fair chance with us and that we should keep him and play him but I’m not convinced on Jorgensen, i think somebody like Javier Hernandez would be a better fit to partner him up front. Shame about Slimani, he would’ve been a massive upgrade I’m.

“The secrecy claimed (by NUFC) to be needed so that
other clubs wouldn’t come in and compete (though no

The point I am making catchy is you cant judge a player on clips from you tube, dennis wise brought a player in on that basis and he was useless, it seems you are pre judging a player before you even see him play, is this another stick to beat Rafa with, the other day you were saying we need a striker and goalkeeper not Kenedy, now we bid for a striker and already you are judging him to be no better than we have, Whatever Rafa does you will moan about him
