Newcastle Linked With Talented 21-Year-Old Striker – Replacement For Jorgensen?

Kelechi Iheanacho was transferred from Manchester City to Leicester City on a five-year contract last August for a reported £25M fee.

But he hasn’t seen much playing time with Jamie Vardy being the striker up front this season for the Foxes.

Newcastle were very interested in signing Iheanacho in the summer, but we didn’t have that money available to bring the Nigerian International to Tyneside.

In face Rafa spent only about £19M net in the summer for six players including the £6M for Mikel Merino from Borussia Dortmund – never mind spending £25M on just one player.

Kelechi Iheanacho – scored two goals for Foxes yesterday in 5-1 win at Peterborough

Iheanacho has made only two Premier League starts this season, and he wants to leave Leicester City this month

Since then, though, he has made just two Premier League starts, and he wants to leave the Foxes this month.

The youngster wants to maximize his chances of making the Nigerian squad for the World Cup in Russia this summer – he has 13 caps with 8 goals for his country so far.

It’s not clear if Newcastle would take him on loan or hope to sign him for around £25M or more in the next three days.

But the Mirror report is that Newcastle may make a move for him if they cannot get Danish striker Nicolai Jorgensen through the door.

If they want to sign Jorgensen it’s straightforward – pay the £20M they want and give Newcastle and Rafa Benitez a chance of staying in the Premier League.

And also take Kelechi Iheanacho on loan if we can do that.

If only Mike Ashley had some ambition for Newcastle that matches that of manager Rafa Benitez and the fans – but he doesn’t.

We understand he cannot even spell the word.

“If only Mike Ashley had some ambition …”

    It’s more like anti-ambition.

Would love this to happen but a total non starter. Ulloa going to Brighton, slimani rumoured out, Leicester not likely to ship out a third striker this window

It makes you wonder if Ash has no intention on bringing anyone in this transfer window , Then what was the point of Kennedy on loan.
He isn’t gonna be our saviour or probably even first choice.

The Nicolai Jorgensen deal is dead because Ashley won’t sanction £20 million (didn’t he say he would break the £16 million ransfer record to back Rafa?)

Now we need to hope the club will move on and get an alternative.. clock is ticking and I have no confidence that we will get anyone ‘over the line’. What a mess of a club this is

It’s hit the media – Strike him off your list.
Guess what ;”The board have worked extremely hard to get quality players over the line, especially a striker but sadly failed at the last hurdle” .
It’s better to hear it now before the disappointment of hearing it on Wednesday night.
This Club is in crisis. AGAIN

Three more days lads. Then we’ll know. Was there ever any money to spend? Possibly one player for under 20M? Certainly nowhere near enough to make sure we’re safe. After that the long struggle to survive continues. And Rafa still seems committed. Amazing.

Why model ourselves on Leicester when we could be the next Manchester City. I think this is what Ashley is worried about. He sells to Amanda who could make us into the Club he will never ever be capable of doing.

    Rafa Benitez:

“The Newcastle fans are very clever, they know what is going on.”

That statement all but tells you that no-one is coming in.

So if /when rafa walks, do we have any nominations for a young foreign coach who can build a team of young cheaply bought talent?

Tax evasion for Glenn Murray and his wife? I would imagine Charnley will be paying attention to the outcome of that one. Isn’t he still up for tax evasion himself (as well as the club)? Only joking. I imagine the circumstances were quite different. One is an indivual(s) infringement, the other is for a club as far as we know unless Charnley took it on by himself with nobody else knowing.

A young new manager Munster? Hmmm. It would have to be somebody with an infinite capacity to take in bollocks. Somebody who could put with snakes like Ashley and Charnley. Somebody who will know that any decent young player he develops will immediately be sold for profit. Somebody who doesn’t really care what happens. Or somebody who believes we’ll be sold to a good and proper owner in the near future and wants to grow with the club. I hope the second alternative is the correct one for our sake.

We get to this stage every year – and yet we still believe something is going to change. I just hope the internet doesn’t go down on Tuesday or Chumley wont be able to do his last minute scouting. Couple of Spanish unknowns – potential but no purples – will be the most we can hope for.

It’s what happened last window. Ashley said if Rafa reduced the wage bill and sold players the proceeds would be made available for Rafa to spend on players. No one came in
