Report – Newcastle Want To Sign 24-Year-Old MLS Winger This Week

The Star is reporting that Newcastle are interested in signing Jack Harrison of New York City FC.

Jack was born in Stoke on Trent, and the 21-year-old moved to the states as a 14-year-old and has done well in the MLS.

He was part of the  Liverpool and Manchester United Youth Academies while growing up in England, and the winger has been getting some interest from English clubs with his excellent displays for New York.

In the last two seasons, he has scored 15 goals in 59 games for his club, who play their home games at Yankee Stadium in The Bronx.

Patrick Vieira is the head coach.

Jack Harrison – plays for New York City

The Star are reporting Newcastle want to sign him in this window – which has only three days to run after today so Newcastle will need to move quickly.

Stoke City and Middlesbrough are the two other English clubs interested in the 5ft 9ins winger.

Jack has played twice for the England U21 side, and he is well regarded in the MLS.

New York City FC want to sell him for about £6M this month, but maybe we can get him on loan with an option to buy in the summer – if he does well.

What do you think?

Feels like such a sucker punch being linked with some decent, realistic names at the end of the window knowing fine well we will make an absolute meal of getting one in, and probably fail at that.

    Hibbet,
    Rumours all we have?
Think we have more chance of signing Stevie nicks and mick than decent Cf at this stage.

It get’s really sad that Ed is talking about not being able to afford a £6m signing and having to get him on loan instead.

Sadly that appears to be the way things are.

Spot on mate. Another window the same as the usual ones.

If we were after reinforcements we would of had at least another one straight after Kenedy, but we are going into the last 3 days still needing at least a striker, goalkeeper and a #10

(Although were we ever looking at a #10)

More money in the coffers for Ashley and Charnley keeping his job a bit longer

    Oh dear…
We are scouring the MLS now? Not that I believe this for a second.

Rafa is either one terrific poker player or knows something we don’t.
    He must be seething!!?

Looking very very suspicious that all these names
are being ‘leaked’ at the end of the transfer window.

Every morning I check to see if there is any real movement on transfers for us and every morning I am left not surprised by the lack of nothing serious.

Looking more and more likely that we will drag out the Jorgensen until the last day and fail to get him and at most we will loan in or buy (Very cheap, free) someone ridiculously underwhelming.
