We didn’t really expect to win at Chelsea, and we didn’t.
Newcastle played decent football in the first half, and we were well organized, but a second Batshuayi goal one minute before halftime was game over for Newcastle.
They were two quick breakaways goals by the Blues, and in the second half Chelsea completely controlled the game and added to their score with a brilliant free kick from Alonzo.
That’s what a player who cost £24M in the transfer market 18 months ago can do.
Michy Batshuayi – scores against Newcastle today
The highest valued player in our team today was Shelvey who cost us £12M two years ago.
It’s too obvious that Newcastle just don’t have the necessary class up front, so hopefully on-loan Chelsea winger Kenedy will offer some of that.
And we hope Newcastle can sign a striker before Wednesday, but we’ve been saying that now for the four weeks since the January transfer window has been open.
Failure to sign a class striker by Wednesday could make it very difficult for Rafa to save us from a second relegation in three years – it’s that serious.
