The Mail are reporting today that Newcastle have made an inquiry for Viktoria Plzen’s £10M-rated striker Michael Krmencik.
It seems Newcastle have been put off by the asking price of £20M Feyenoord striker Jorgensen and will go after another target who is much cheaper.
But since there are just over two days left in this transfer window Newcastle must move quickly – we must get a striker in before Wednesday night.
The 24-year-old 6ft 2ins striker is a Czech International, and he’s scored 16 goals in 20 appearances this season for his club Viktoria Plzen.
Michael Krmencik – 24 year-old Czech International
He will cost Newcastle £10M, and that’s half the price we would have to pay for Jorgensen so once again Mike Ashley has gone for the cheaper alternative.
He’s been out on loan a lot since joining Viktoria Plzen back in 2011, and it’s difficult to know how good a player he is.
But he’s twice as expensive as Joselu and half the fee of Jorgensen.
Rafa has said the minimum price for a good striker in the Premier League is £20M so unless he’s a real bargain he’s not one of them.
It seems Mike Ashley is again being thrifty and we don’t know where this player is on Rafa Benitez’ list of strikers – but he seems to be down the list and not his first choice.
If he comes into Newcastle before Wednesday night, we’ll have to hope he’s very good and can score some goals for us.
