Sky Sports are reporting that it looks like Daniel Sturridge will help West Brom survive in the Premier League this season and not Newcastle as he has chosen to go on loan to West Brom for what are called family reasons.
Maybe he’s closer to home by going to West Brom but we still hoped he would join Newcastle.
Newcastle’s enquiry for Daniel Sturridge falling on deaf ears as we’re told the England striker is set to choose West Brom for family reasons.
— Keith Downie (@SkySports_Keith) January 29, 2018
There were some doubts he wanted to come to Newcastle when George Caulkin of the Times tweeted this a few hours ago.
Newcastle were expecting Sturridge to travel north this lunchtime. He hasn’t.
— George Caulkin (@CaulkinTheTimes) January 29, 2018
John Percy is the Midlands reporter for the Telegraph and tweeted this out.
#lfc striker Daniel Sturridge set for medical at West Brom later today. Loan to end of the season.. #wba
— John Percy (@JPercyTelegraph) January 29, 2018
But if Sturridge can just stay fit he should be able to score the goals for West Brom.
Now it remains to be seen what happens with £20M striker Jorgensen who Feyenoord are playing hardball over – but Newcastle must bring a good striker in if we have a decent chance of surviving in the Premier League this season.
It’s all starting to get very late and there is supposed to be a 6:00 pm deadline for Newcastle to let Feyenoord know what our plans are for the striker.
If we walk away – who else can we bring in?
Comments welcome.

17 PL goals in 4 years.
4 per season since he played with Suarez.
He’d give us some hope. But let’s not pretend he’d be anything but a punt.

Comment #2We get linked with players out of favour, or recent crock recoveries, and we cant even sign them. We will dwindle away to nothing more than a league 1 side who may aspire to the odd season in the championship.

Would love to believe we could get him, but we know that whatever money is required for loan fees or wages or the like, we will offer less, and the bid will fail. Hopeless.

Bleak, sad, unfortunate, poignant and so very true. You’ve summed it up in one small phrase dude.
And it is heartbreaking…
Cashley has sucked the life and soul out of this beautiful club for profit

Comment #10You have to say that it’s looking very much like we will be one of the clubs relegated, everyone else trying to get players in to survive while we look for cheap bargains / offer cut price deals and ultimately fail to get players over the line

Comment #11I see the NJ deal is off, so who next?…Giroud to Chelski and a cheeky bid for Michy? Disappointed we’ve not enquired about Luan, or maybe we have and its a secret!!

Comment #15If it’s true that negotiations have been called off, that is it and we officially will close this window out with just the Kenedy loan. How pathetic an attempt at bolstering a squad to fight relegation and an utterly embarrassing version of backing Rafa.
Would never have thought we’d be priced out of a move for a Dane from the Dutch league 🙁
Faith and never give up-ness truly dwindling. . . . 🙁

Comment #19if we don’t sign a striker, we go down. What’s the point in risking it. Just pay 8 million over the odds or whatever it is for Jorgensen and get on with it.
Moussa dembele would still bee avail also if we stumped up close to 20 mil
I’d imagine we’ll get Sandro Ramirez and that will be that

Comment #32Feyenord – as good as their word – get deal done by 6pm or deals off. After all why weaken a team with no chance of getting a replacement (see AC move to Liverpool as evidence)
Of course Chumley thought he had Sturridge but its never over till the photos done – so its 2 and zero as our Americans say – and little chance of getting anyone of note

Pack your bags RAFA because FCB is bound to look for someone to blame & that man is bound to be you. Thanks for all you’ve done & tried to do especially staying with us when we went down & bringing us back up again with an average squad only to find you got no support at all from the hierarchy to restrengthen.

Comment #39So we were willing to pay 1.5million loan fee and meet Sturridge’s wages, so why oh why could the same not be offered for Iheanacho, or even Slimani??
Both proven to be above what we have and Leicester willing to let one go.
