Another Transfer Target Not Coming To Newcastle This Month

There is breaking news that Manchester City will not allow their 26-year-old central defender Eliaquim Mangala to leave this month, according to manager Pep Guardiola.

There was news yesterday and even today that Newcastle were in negotiations with City about getting the French center-back in on loan this month, but that’s not going to happen.

Mangala was linked with a move to Newcastle last summer, but that didn’t happen either.

Eliaquim Mangala – not coming to Newcastle

We’re not sure why it was reported we were negotiating with City about Mangala’s move when Guardiola has said that he was never looking to let Mangala leave thjis month.

That’s even though City have just signed Laporte for a whopping £57M.

Here’s a tweet from the Manchester Guardian reporter Jamie Jackson:

Newcastle are really scrambling at the moment as clubs below us in the table have strengthened and the one player we needed this month – a striker – has not arrived.

If we don’t get a new striker in this month, it’s complete incompetence being shown once again by the Newcastle hierarchy.

They don’t seem to have a clue, and it’s all very embarrassing.

Benitez 17th of January (1 year ago):

“My understanding is that if you have a good manager, leave him to take responsibility.”

    Benitez 18th of January 2017:

“I’m not concerned about anything – at the moment we have lost some targets because they were very expensive, or their clubs did not want to sell, but I’m still confident we can do what we need to do.”

““The club cannot sign anyone without the say so from me but you do not always get everything you want, it is difficult and especially in January.”

    Benitez 20th January 2017:

“I was talking with Lee this morning. Hopefully he was working in the evening and maybe he will give me a surprise in a few hours, in a few days, you never know.”

    Benitez 31st January 2017:

“We don’t have any news about anything yet. We have been training but still I have confidence we can do something.”

“I am keen we will do something good for us but we have to see.”

    February 3rd 2017:

Asked if he was surprised no signings were made, Rafa Benitez said “Yes”.

Then the United boss was asked if he had an explanation about what had happened yesterday (deadline day) and why no signings happened, Rafa replying “No – because I don’t know”.

¶ Less than 2 days left for history not to repeat itself. Although Ashley/Charnley probably believe signing Kenedy in this window equates to progress in comparison to the previous winter window—even with less spent in the prior summer window this time around.

Please please please let’s have some more positive news. No keeper, no defender needed, a no.10 and a striker would be fantastic. Sorry for being hopeful folks. HWTL

Mangala never made much sense to me as a target anyway. Can’t see there being any truth in us wanting to let Merino go either. More shenanigans from Sky Sports methinks.

Ashley is a very vindictive greedy man. The way the fans turned on him for his incompetence, the court cases he lost against Kev & Spider-Man he takes as a personal affront to his skills. He is so pig headed & stubborn he will do anything to get his revenge for his loss of face even if it costs him money in the process I HATE THE MAN

If the Seagulls’ new Eredivisie striker (Locadia from PSV Eindhoven) heals quickly, plays and scores and if Sturridge stays healthy, plays and scores for the Baggies, that could make the difference for those 2 clubs to stay up since the biggest problem for both is their lack of scoring!

That is a very real possibility (probably more likely than our signing a striker anybody’s heard of outside a hockey arena this transfer window) and if it happens it will be 2 former NUFC “Ashley Era” managers having a laugh last at Ashley (Hoots and Pards).

If you didn’t think NUFC under Ashley was toxic let that sink in.

    Support the regime!

    That simple really!

Rafa needs to leave after the window to avoid more embarrassment along with his staff.

PCP need to look else where for a club to purchase because greedy man will still want the 350 million even in the championship!

Get your rallying cries ready for the lads, we’re going to need them after today.

I know the players (maybe some if not all) read social media and probably wince with anger at some of the disparaging remarks we make (not absolving myself of blame here) but lets be realistic – I don’t think we have any of the lazy journeymen characters playing for us now that we were plagued with a few years ago. This looks like a squad that works hard, and while they all probably know as a group they were assembled for a job in the championship – and they did it magnificently – they are Premier League tested and by no means “championship at best”. We may vent our anger and frustration on matchday but this is still a premier league squad, being refined by scorching heat but tangibly growing into the part.

I’ve no doubt they will get stronger and better and with Rafa at the head it doesn’t matter what those fat doughnut-vacuuming goons who allegedly “run” the club do, it’s the boys on the turf who do the real business and I’m sure we won’t be relegated this time out. Have faith and courage!

Yesterday the hacks had Man City touting Mangala as if he was some street vendors last veg of the day. Today he’s far too important to be sold or loaned out. Newcastle were never interested.
Pure fabrication, fake news and fantasy reporting. Trump is more truthful and it wouldn’t surprise me if they link us with buying him.

What about Javier Hernandez? Slimani? Even Crouch? Doesn’t matter because we aren’t signing a striker, not a chance against Burnley tomorrow night. And I’m usually an optimist but am truly fed up with the shambles that NUFC has become.

Is there no end to the pain. More Lineker. I’ll need therapy soon.

Match of the Day will show Premier League highlights until at least the 2021-22 season after renewing its contract for a further three years.

The £211.5m deal – up from £204m – also includes Match of the Day 2, Football Focus and The Premier League Show.

    Just a thought

Forget any boycott….forget any walk out..

Lets all do a Walk up !

It’s easy …leave the pubs late…arrive late…time it so the entire first half is played to an empty ground…there’s your protest right there !

It will look really bad to viewers world wide and Ashley and make a massive point in embarrassing him .

It will cause problems outside and knock practiced schedules to hell. Police and stewarding will be working over time ..don’t rush it just walk up before half time .

Give full support second half .

If it’s all done slowly and easily there should be no problems for supporters. As long as it’s Co ordinated and planned and police know what’s happening.

Many fans feel that the price Ashley wants for the club is prohibitively high. This is based on the view of many of a paucity of playing talent together with a lack of administrative infrastructure throughout the club.
The widely held view is that as a club we’ve regressed during the Ashley era. We’ve gone backwards in the eleven years and not just on the pitch. The widely held perception of the club is not what it once was with European football being a regular feature.
We’ve still got time to bring players in and one suspects a transfer or two elsewhere could free up signing opportunities. As well of course a few still leaving.
Benitez has often talked the current squad down which surely doesn’t help when looking to bring quality into the squad. What are we actually selling to persuade and attract the better players. Those that are better than what we’ve currently got.
Listening to Benitez it strikes me that it’s not for the want of trying that we’ve failed to get players in but maybe we just don’t represent the attractive proposition we once did.

Typical. Charnley stops for a coffee and we loose another target and the opportunity to break our transfer record. Ho hum.

Manchester City have signed French defender Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao for a club record fee of £57m.
The fee for Laporte, yet to win a cap for France, takes spending by Premier League clubs this month to £252m – a record for a January transfer window.
The 23-year-old’s arrival takes City manager Pep Guardiola’s spending on defenders and a goalkeeper since the end of last season to £215.5m.

    Jakesome,

I don’t think we are necessarily a particularly defensive team (city apart) We were top scorers by a country mile in the champo and we still create plenty of chances but just have no goal scorers to turn 1-0 defeats in to draws or better. Just can’t put a price on a prolific scorer. Can’t believe we aren’t all over Iheanacho. Oh yes I can.. . . . .

It’s got toxic and personal with Ashley now. 3 weeks ago we had a dream scenario with new potential owners. They say it’s the hope that kills you. What happens when the hope is gone because that’s where I’m at right now.

Ashley always planned to suck the life right out of us. It’s been that way for quite a while now. He’s been badly embarrassed on numerous occasions by his own incompetence but like every childlike adult he has to push the blame onto someone else (for reference see Donald Trump) and we’ll do just fine.

A 20M gamble on Jorgensen is our best bet. Talk of schurrle is wishful thinking. He is actually to big a player for our club. Josiére, Manquillo, Merino, Kenedy, Lejeune nobody type players. Even a Dutch league superstar might think better of joining this shambles. And to be honest, the better option is to go anywhere else.
