Newcastle Reported After 25-Year-Old Ghana Goal Machine

There’s news in the Chronicle today that Newcastle are making a last-minute move to try to get Red Star Belgrade striker Richmond Boakye signed today – but the odds of that happening have to be low.

The 25-year-old has 12 caps for Ghana (6 goals) and stands 6ft 1ins tall and was at Juventus in 2012 for a couple of years.

He joined Red Star a year ago from Latina (Serie D Italian side) and he’s scored 38 goals in 47 appearances for Red Star since then.

Richmond Boakye – 25-year-old Red Star Belgrade striker

But as we’ve seen before it’s much tougher task to score goals in the Premier League, but he does seem a natural goalscorer which is what we need.

One of the big problems Newcastle have is to get him a work permit – with time running out.

We are acting like a small Championship club with the transfer fee quoted at £4M for the striker.

Is that what Newcastle have been reduced to – we can only bring in £4M players?

He cannot be much of a goal machine for £4M?

It could be that Rafa will try to persuade Mike Ashley that £20M is the going rate for Feyenoord striker Nicolai Jorgensen – the Chronicle are hinting Rafa still wants the striker in – even if he does cost Newcastle £20M.

Best of luck persuading miser Mr. Mike Ashley to pay out £20M for Jorgensen today.

Any hopes we had of Rafa staying at Newcastle if Mike Ashley doesn’t sell the club, are small to zero after this transfer window.

Ashley has been true to form this month – just like last January when no players were signed.

    Firebug(from previous)
The Merino rumours are deliberately created by the press. The Spanish press do it because Rafa and Merino are Spanish so it’s easy for them . Noted that it wasn’t a German or French journo who created the story.

Yesterday they deliberately asked the questions of Rafa to force a response which then gives them the ability to quote him and thus they have a story. Fills space.

It’s the oldest journalist trick in the book. If you don’t have a story invent one. The best way to invent one is to come up with a contentious idea and put a question mark at the end of it which creates a reply or denial to write about.

    Along the lines of :

“Is Elvis living in Benwell ? ” When asked a spokesperson for the Benwell Housing Association stated that “we’re unable to reveal details of individual situations about clients housed in Heartbreak Hotel” . The Ronnie then writes, ” Presley living in Benwell. Spotted buying Blue Suede Shoes in Aldi”

“Will Torres sign for Newcastle United today ? “

Richmond Boakye – they know he needs a work permit which takes time and while likely is not guaranteed. He must be the C lister of last resort to placate the fans with ” we tried but the Government are to blame for holding up the paperwork. Sorry and all that .”

News on deadline day morning from a number of media is that Newcastle are now considering a move for Alfred Finnbogason.
The Icelandic international turns 29 tomorrow (Thursday) and is currently with Augsburg in the Bundesliga.

I know we’ve seen this time and again, but I still can’t get my head around the thinking in that board room. Is Charnley that useless, or is Ashley that stubborn? Both?
I know we can’t trust the numbers in the press, but if we were within a few million of the asking price for Jorgenssen then surely any numpty could see it was time to just bend over, hand them some cash and vaseline and take the hit? There is a very strong chance we’ll get relegated now and Ashley see his asset depreciate overnight by at least £100m. For the sake of what, £3m?
I don’t get it. Thinking like that normally comes from people with dribble on their chins and and panic buttons.

The big deal #nufc are trying to get done today is Islam Slimani. Would fit the bill for Rafa Benitez.

    Jail.

When Pardew said we can’t compete with the likes of clubs like Southampton, this transfer window indicates that the same applies today.
Ashley always was, is, and will be the problem. It will not be solved until he f@cks off.

Things aren’t great, but they aren’t as bad as the tone on here suggests. When the money comes in then we have it to spend, and Rafa submits a list of names, and Charnley tries to get them, but we won’t pay over the odds. It’s not that bad. The problem stems from our relegation season, and the couple of seasons before when we didn’t hardly buy at all. We do need to stay up, but I believe Rafa when he says if we can survive this season then the future is good. But still it is most important we get someone in to lead the line for the rest of the season, and the Slovak keeper would also be a welcome addition.

Mangala to Everton on loan is the same reasoning as Sturridge to West Brom.
These players don’t want upheaval in their private lives or to move home. Imagine if they had to live in digs or a B&B. Poor diddums.

Interesting that no one wants to join Swansea because it’s the back end of beyond.

I scored 23 goals in a season from midfield back in 1984, maybe I should send my CV to Charnley. I’ll take either a loan or permanent deal, I’m not fussed

    Reilly – Slimani
According to a report in the Daily Mail, West Ham United have been told that they will have to break their transfer record if they want Islam Slimani by Leicester City.
Leicester have put a £30 million asking price on Slimani, who is unlikely to leave the King Power Stadium on loan.
West Ham have been discussing a move for Slimani, and David Moyes is thought to be a huge fan of the target-man.

At least it seems we’ll be getting a keeper in having agreed a loan deal to bring Dubravka in.

Aarons to Hull on loan looks to ve in the cards as well. That’s a good move and will hopefully develop the player sooner.

Now just bring us that blooming Striker!
