Benitez – You Never Know What Will Happen With Loan Players

Of the three loan moves Newcastle made last month, only one player came with an option to buy, and that was Sparta Prague goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, and we can buy him for about £4M in the summer.

We had hoped we could also buy Kenedy and Slimani, but Kenedy could well make it at Chelsea in the long term – he’s that good.

And Leicester may want the Algerian International to return in the summer.

Leicester and Chelsea will be that much more unwilling to sell their players if Rafa can get the best out of Slimani and Kenedy.

Kenedy – in excellent form during Newcastle debut

Rafa will need to buy some class players this summer, and if Kenedy and Slimani have played well, they would be safe bets.

But we wonder how much the Blues would want for their 21-year-old Brazilian?

Rafa has talked about loan moves, and he basically says you can never tell what will happen.

This is what he has said today in the Chronicle:

“In football you never know. When you have a loan with an option, then you have an option and it’s simple.”

“But if you don’t then it doesn’t matter. Players are moving around all the time, so it depends how the player feels.”

“If he feels comfortable then he will say: ‘Ok, I want to stay here.’ Then we can start talking.”

“The main thing for me is that these new players, they want to perform, they want to do well – even if they are on loan.”

“And the others, they have to perform if they want to stay in the team.”

We’d love to see Kenedy at Newcastle long term – but as the manager says – you never can tell.

All the club’s around us picking up points.

Hope our new loan signings turn our season around, we’re relying on them.

As it stands it’s looking worrying for us. I have a horrible feeling if we don’t win tomorrow that would cement it. Just can’t see us generating enough momentum if we don’t.

If all goes well and we start converting our chances 18 points. I have counted zero points against the top six out of those as well. One less win and a draw or two would do. If all goes well…

Hopefully you’re right but I have a feeling we’ll need three teams doing us a favour or two.

Prediction tomorrow: hard fought draw. We’ll inch towards the safety mark.

Almost a first chance on goal for Mitrovic. Norwood swings in a corner, Mitrovic jumps to try & meet it, but he’s adamant he’s being held back by a #nffc defender. Nothing given though – Fulham going a bit more direct & willing to put the ball in the air since Mitrovic came on

Huge penalty shout as Mitrovic goes down in the area when he appears to be being held back by the Forest defence. #ffc fans scream for it, but the referee is not interested. Mitrovic has made an impact – Fulham look more dangerous since his introdcution. #nufc

Mitrovic heads wide from a corner, then spends the next 20 seconds making his feelings known to Forest defender Worrall… Fulham then take the lead through Piazon.

The positive early impact Mitrovic had has waned some what, with #ffc now struggling to break #nffc down. Haven’t been many crosses into the box for Mitrovic to attack in last 10 mins, but he is still trying to make things happen for his side

OFF THE LINE! So unlucky from Mitrovic. He rises highest from a corner to power a header at goal, which #nffc clear off the line. #ffc fans respond with chants of “Mitro, Mitro” #nufc

Palace are difficult to beat at home but on ‘paper’ one of the teams we need to keep close. I was hoping for a few results today to help us….

Hopefully we can get something. Just avoid defeat and hope for three.

Our goal difference could yet be worth a point

Less than 3 mins left at Craven Cottage for Mitrovic to find a debut goal off the bench. He’s been lively since he came on. Colback looks shattered for Forest, though he has played well – & it’s unsurprising given ihis lack of football this season

Full-time. Fulham win 2-0. Mitrovic didn’t get a debut goal off the bench but he put in a promising display & had a header cleared off the line. This looks like a good move for him, with Fulham whipping loads of balls in to the box. Colback had a decent #nffc debut too #nufc

Ok here’s who we have left to play this season:-

    04/02 Crystal Palace (A) Sky 3
    11/02 Manchester United (H) Sky 0
    24/02 Bournemouth (A) 1
    03/03 Liverpool (A) 0
    10/03 Southampton (H) 3
    17/03 Spurs (A) 0
    31/03 Huddersfield Town (H) 3
    07/04 Leicester City (A) 0
    14/04 Arsenal (H) 1
    21/04 Everton (A) 1
    28/04 West Brom (H) 3
    05/05 Watford (A) 1
    13/05 Chelsea (H) 0

Total 16 finish on 41 points

Perhaps I’m being optomistic but at worst I think we’ll get 38 points and I think that should just about do it. Don’t forget there’s still a lot of “Dog eat Dog” games to come up. Never in my memory can I recall the top division being as tight as it is this year!

He’s at Blackpool. Started behind the strikers for a few games and went on a goal scoring run scoring worldies every other week. Moved back to cm since though so goals have dried till today. Played well for them, he’s better than league 1 and should have been sent to championship in January.

Looking likey that wba and huddersfield will be two of the three, so if we can win tomorrow and beat wba, southampton and huddersfield then we should be nearly there. But just makes you wonder though were we would be if we had someone who could consistently put the ball in the back of the net doesn’t it. Palace and some of our other away games will be good games for us, wont have to worry about breaking them down as they will come at us allowing us to counter quickly. If we can transition quicky and move the ball through the phases and interchange with clever movement then weve got a chance. No silly fouls or free kicks, be compact and tight and hopfully slim can hit the ground running and get the goals we need. Hopefully thats just enough. HWTL
