Paul Dummett has been playing very well for Newcastle at left back and he’s a much better player this season than last, as Rafa is making the local lad into a top left-back.
And Rafa has talked before of Paul’s qualities as a defender and his form since he came back from injury shows what we were missing in the first half of the season.
Paul had another excellent game yesterday as we somehow kept Crystal Palace at bay late in the second half after we had missed some good chances in the first half.
But we took a point from the game.
Paul Dummett – another excellent game yesterday from the local lad
Paul Dummett fantastic today. Improved so so much under Benitez. #NUFC

Dummett been quality since he came back – best player by a mile today #nufc

Good point in the circumstances ?? Dummett excellent #nufc

This second half has been a disgrace. Not a single player prepared to take responsibility. Shameful. Only one due any credit is Dummett #NUFC

Can Paul Dummett get some credit? I’ll be honest that over 2 years ago I thought he’d never make it as a player but he’s persevered, improved and proven me wrong. Like it or not he’s a solid pro and is far better than some charlatans we’ve had playing for us in our time #NUFC

Imagine if he had a striker that he wanted. We’d of best Everton, Bournemouth, Swansea, Burnley, Southampton (a) etc if we had a good striker. Rest of the team is solid. Paul Dummett our best player AGAIN. #NUFC

Say what you want about Paul Dummett, but he is a local lad that always gives 100%. Townsend hardly had a kick this afternoon. #nufc
— Matt (@GeordieWalrus) February 4, 2018
He isn’t, but that’s not my point. We aren’t a top club so we won’t get a top left back. My point is that Dummett is good enough for #NUFC, and he is

Dummett MOTM? #NUFC

Again, our three most impressive players were Diame, Kenedy and Dummett. Keep it up lads. #NUFC
— Daniel (@danjpeg) February 4, 2018
And during the game.
Got to be happy with a point there as we look increasingly “Championship”
Dummett- excellent
Shelvey – idioticStrange decision to sub Kenedy when Richie was completely ineffective. Murphy seems to have disappeared when he was hitting form.
It’s going to the wire. #NUFC

Still see a lot of hate for Dummett. Why? Hes by far our best left back and our defence is better with him in it #nufc
— Joe Hubbard (@joehubbard07) February 4, 2018
Dummett is not everyone favourite but since he has came back in not ready put a foot wrong. He defends and works hard as his job is Rafa likes him which is a plus #nufc

Comment #3Good point in the end. Wasn’t pretty but they’re a good side on their day and have a lot of quality. Hoping the 3 teams in the relegation zone stay there and we can grind out results till the end of the season.

Comment #4Well Done Mr Dummett. You played fantastic ! In fact most of the lads dug deep and got stuck in . However, I cannot for the life of me see exactly why the linesman was so animated at the so called tug of the shirt that awarded the penalty, ( Must have had a side bet ? ) We should have buried them in the first half. Well done lads ! Keep it up but maybe a bit more practice in front of goal all round !
One final thought. Townsend , Has he been to the same clinical as Looney Rooney for his hair transplant. I can’t help thinking how much he looked like Oddbod from the carry on films ! Spitting double !!

Henry Winter and other Ashley critics can say it a million times but Ashley’s oblivious to it all. He cares only about his own self-interest and certainly not one iota about Newcastle United.

The flag-happy linesman’s fist pump (when he convinced the ref to award the penalty) really ought to be questioned. In my opinion, it showed he was either pleased that he’d won a pen against us or that he was trying to show that he’s a potential ref.

Thanks for the mention and I totally agree something should be done. I don’t think that I have ever seen a linesman so animated and happy. Try to bring it to Gary Neville’s attention he might moan on for weeks about it lol.
