Last Sunday Islam Slimani didn’t play in the game at Crystal Palace since he was still suffering from that thigh strain.
But he has a better chance of starting at home against Manchester United, but if there is any doubt about him, Joselu will get the lone striker position up front.
The Spanish striker has recovered from the virus that kept him out of the game at Selhurst Park.
Rafa talked about the three new signings at yesterday’s press conference:
“He was training yesterday and he was in the gym today – we will see how he feels tomorrow.”
“He came with a little problem, he was tired and we treated him but he is still feeling it a little bit.”
“We need to make sure he is fine and whether or not to take the risk.” “He will train tomorrow and we will see.”
“We had a good training session, I like the competition between keepers, midfielders, and strikers.”
“We have three new players and that is good for me.”
“I will tell you when I watch them playing how good we can be with them.”
“It’s one thing watching them train and another seeing them play in the Premier League, it is too early to know how much they can give to us.”
Rafa could start all three loan signing tomorrow, and if the wins don’t start coming soon, Rafa will need to take some risks.
Draws will not save us this season and we need to go on a winning streak sometime in the final 12 games if we are to survive a second relegation in just three seasons.
That would be a complete and utter disaster for the Newcastle United club.
We also hope this relegation threat doesn’t last until the final game of the season.
Otherwise, the nerves will be completely frayed by then.
