Our Newcastle players worked their socks off this afternoon to earn a terrific 1-0 win over second top of the table Manchester United.
The goals came after 65 minutes through Matt Ritchie and what a time for Matt to score his first goal this season.
The crowd were chanting Rafa’s name at the end of the game – a fantastic win today.
We said we were hoping for a miracle this afternoon – and we got one.
Alan Shearer had a typical Geordie reaction to the win – Yessssssssssssssssssss.
Yessssssssssssssssssss @NUFC Toon Toon ????army Toon Toon ????army Toon Toon ????army. Rafa Rafa Rafael ???????? ??????????????? #NEWMUN

Today was a day for the real fans. Let losers like Bladey, Catchy etc go and sulk on their playstations.

Comment #11Loved reading through all of the negative comments from the team sheet announcement. Not a single poor performance today. Kept waiting for us to boot it up the field and we kept passing and playing it out. Buzzing!

Comment #14What a result , Diame has gone from zero to hero in last few games , everyone out a shift in and great debut from keeper – need to keep it going against Bournemouth in couple of weeks
Absolutely made up with result – we have a chance of safety if we can keep up performance level

Comment #16Well worked goal from the set piece, well deserved 3 points.
Great having a confident keeper.
Every player played well and gave everything, no point singling anyone out there was several top knotch performances.
No wonder Jose can’t see us going down..

Newcastle: Have cleared the ball off the line three times against Manchester United this afternoon, no team has done so more in a Premier League game this season

Comment #20Very difficult to pick a MOTM as all eleven played well.
My choice is Rafa.
This was a complete team effort, excellent tactics, well coached, organised and disciplined.

Comment #23I just hope I’m wrong every week if it keeps us up. Didn’t think we had that sort of sustained performance in the locker this season but hats off to all of the team today. One or two more of those against the top 10 we have left to play and we’ll be safe.
Is this a turning point for us? Hope so.

Comment #24I guess it’s safe to post now, the doom and gloom nuisances will have slithered back under their stones, again.
I enjoyed Jose’s complimentary comment; “fought like animals!” we may not yet be the ‘New Entertainers’ but we could be the ‘New Animals’ Rock on Rafa!

Comment #37The effort of our players has not been in question this season, they all grafted their socks off today, Mourinho was very magnanimous in defeat for a change, but he summed it up well.
