Dubravka, Lejeune Amd Kenedy Start Against Manchester United – No Slimani

Rafa Benitez and Newcastle have just announced the team to play Manchester United at St. James’ Park today.

Newcastle are now 4th bottom at the start of today after yesterday’s games, and we need all 3 points out of this difficult game.

Martin Dubravka makes his debut but there’s not Islam Slimani – so he must still be inured.

Martin Dubravka – makes his debut in goal

We need to get him fit quickly so he can help us get the 15 points or more we need to survive.

Florian Lejeune comes in for Ciaran Clark, who is not even on the bench.

Huge pressure on Dubravka, never played in such a high pressure league before, and against Man Utd, and with us battling relegation…hope he can handle it

Our big savior was a crocked striker…

Just need to get behind the boys today and hope we set out to attack. Man U aren’t as scary as Man City. They have had plenty of games this season that they have looked average at best even with all of that talent.

    3-1 Huds…

It will be another tense game starting in 18th place. Hopefully big Mo, Shelvey and Kenedy can conjure up some magic

We can’t expect any team to do us favors. It isn’t going to happen that way. They are all fighting and we are still stuck in first gear.

How attacking is Man Utd’s team we could be on for a good hiding today. Haven’t got enough goals in us to win this a draw at the very very best for us.

I feel we are only prolonging the inevitable nearly all the teams around us are winning games now and we still dont look like getting more than a draw from most games.

Charnley must be mightily impressed with himself. He dithered until the end of the transfer window, presumably factoring in that he was saving wages and thinking he was smart by running the clock down, as if that got him a better deal on a 4th/5th choice. Gets to the end of the window and the only affordable option leftover is a player that cannot pass a fitness test. Signing an injured player has turned out to be a good use of his first couple of weeks wages.

That forward line makes me cringe. Now in the bottom 3. Can anyone see us getting out of it again by seasons end? Honestly?

    Ancient –

I wonder if loan signings have appearance fees. Could be a nice little saver if we don’t have to pay him extra for even being on the bench.

Very very disappointed Slimani can’t even make the bench! Pis*ed off actually. We need him now not when there are only a couple of games left!!

Now we have no hope of winning.

Everyone knew we should have brought 2 strikers in the club is totally shambolic. We live in false hope that the lads can do something and play way above their level but I am sure we will all be let down in the next couple of hours. Sigh

Can’t be let down if you aren’t expecting anything, 83. I’m hoping the St. James hoodoo holds true for Mourinho, but expecting the worst. No use in throwing in the towels just yet. They play the games for a reason.

Clearly the difference between us and those who will stay up is they can go all out and get wins against top half teams. We are not capable of that, and therefore will go down.

I’m just disappointed that Murphy isn’t starting.

He was showing some great ability in recent games.

Does Rafa view him as a super sub?

33 minutes to kick off and I’m off down the pub. Up in Ras Al Khamiah today for a couple of days, so lets see – I’m expecting to be the only one wearing a Toon shirt (other than the missus) in a bar full of red.

I have been saying all season we have the worst squad in the league on par maybe with Brighton and Huddersfield but I really think them two sides are at the same standard.

all the other teams around us are picking up points in the crucial stage.. while we are stuck with a powderpuff attack that doesn’t look like scoring..

now in the bottom 3. it’s going to take some miracle to get ourselves out of it now…

on par with Brighton? what a joke. no wonder most NUFC fans are daft. do you watch brighton games or see their highlights? they have played attacking football nothing like we have ever done this season.

we are not even close. we have the weakest team in the division, not in terms of personnel but in terms of attacking nous. we have nothing. no 1-2s nothing. fact.

twotonearmy, appearance fees being part of loan deals could well be the case. There was something untoward going on with the Doumbia and Ferreyra deals which would suggest so.

Slimani will be back after the 2 week break from here. We can rant and rave at the board as much as we want but we had an international striker and didn’t use, in fact we loaned him out.

What was the point of signing an injured Slimani on loan when we have so few games left and are in desperate need of a goalscorer . What was the point, I mean really what was the footin point. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaghhhh. This club is making me ill.

I have no belief that we deserve to be in this division. The players don’t step up their game for big occasions, the owner doesn’t have ambition or support, even the manager seems to be too set in his approach to ever change his strategy.

    Pen to Huds….

    4-1
