Dubravka, Lejeune Amd Kenedy Start Against Manchester United – No Slimani

Rafa Benitez and Newcastle have just announced the team to play Manchester United at St. James’ Park today.

Newcastle are now 4th bottom at the start of today after yesterday’s games, and we need all 3 points out of this difficult game.

Martin Dubravka makes his debut but there’s not Islam Slimani – so he must still be inured.

Martin Dubravka – makes his debut in goal

We need to get him fit quickly so he can help us get the 15 points or more we need to survive.

Florian Lejeune comes in for Ciaran Clark, who is not even on the bench.

Even when he’s fit to play he’s gonna be rusty and not up to PL speed. By the time he’s ready to perform it’ll be too late . Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagghhhhh.

If Gayle of last season kindly turns up might actually be able to convert a chance. Too bad he hasn’t been here all season and looks thoroughly disinterested.

    Clark is a liability
    Also looks overweight
Not convinced Lejuene is an upgrade
Would prefer to see Dummett and Lascelles in central defence with Mbemba at left back

I just don’t understand -when Slimani was signed, surly the medical guys must have known how long he would take to recover from injury ?

We’ve basically signed a player who misses the first two games, cannot play against his old team so that’s 9 games (I think ) he can possibly play in ?

This is a shambles …only Newcastle can do this sort of thing … get a striker in for a relegation battle and he cannot play.

I am sorry to say I don’t think today is going to be a good one for us -just hope I am proved wrong.

You better start your magic soon. We’re in the bottom three, it’s a bit urgent.
    Thanks

It comes down to instructions rather than having the players. Houghton likes his teams to attack that’s why they look better going forward. Rafa prefers staying compact, control and playing with the handbrake on.

Away to West ham we showed the attacking element in the side, problem is we don’t like to be open or try to be expansive. Rigid, compact, tight.

Nothing wrong with that style if we pick up wins with it but we haven’t.

As for squads, we have a much better squad than Brighton and udders, better squad than Burnley, I wouldn’t take many Swansea players over ours. It’s how the players are used.

The biggest difference between us and all other teams is that they don’t have a manager repeatedly belittling players and giving them excuses by saying he needs more quality, essentially saying the squad isn’t good enough

Well if the manager is suggesting players aren’t quite good enough and that demoralised them, then if he said they weren’t professional enough to step up and prove him wrong he’d be right about that too.

We needed two strikers what did this joke of a club do buy get a loan signing who was injured it beggars belief
Today world class rafa starts with Ritchie who is woeful
I hope it is not a pounding I really do unless they have a player sent off and everything else falls for us we all know it’s a game we will probably lose

    Maybe Mauti 🙂

Anyway, they need to he brave, play direct football (ie. a more refined version of hoofball), we cannot outplay them, fact.

Play this as if it’s a final. We threw away easier games, we need to chase these. Forget respectable losses and that goal margin theory.

I don’t think rafa should get sacked but I do think staying compact is yielding more draws than wins. Guess if we were to make a change then Silva could well be the best option but I want rafa to remain
