In his press conference on Friday afternoon for this afternoon’s tough game against Newcastle, Jose Mourinho said he thought that Newcastle had a very good transfer window last month.
After Mike Ashley was vacationing in Miami over the Christmas holidays and finally returned to England it wasn’t until mid-January that he decided to get involved with transfers.
Before that Ashley had ended negotiations with Amanda Staveley and said, it had all been a complete waste of time.
Jose Mourinho – very good window to get Kenedy and Slimani in
That was just to raise the spirits of Newcastle fans.
We managed to bring in three loan players last month – Kenedy, Slimani, and Dubravka, with the final two arriving on the final evening of the transfer window.
We hear Mike Ashley likes to gamble and that shows through in the entirely amateurish way he has run the club for almost 11 years – which have been a form of torture for out long-suffering Newcastle fans.
Anyway, here’s what Jose said about our transfer window:
“I think they had a very good transfer window with Kenedy and Slimani. They are two players I know very well and they can really improve the team.”
We are not sure if Slimani is fit for today and whether both the Algerian International and new goalkeeper Martin Dubravka will start the game today.
Kenedy has been outstanding for us so far, and we really need a win today if we are to keep up with the other clubs at the bottom of the league who are finding ways to win games.
