Rafa Benitez Talks About Mind Games With Jose

There have been many battles in the past between teams managed by Rafa Benitez and Jose Mourinho but this Newcastle side is probably the worst one Rafa has gone to battle with against the special one.

Over 50% of our fans expect us to lose the game today, and in the Mail, Rafa was asked about the mind games played between Jose Mourinho and himself.

But Rafa refuted that there were any mind games played and he is only concentrating on how he can get enough wins to save Newcastle from a second relegation in three years.

Rafa meets Jose – at Old Trafford late last year

And the more games we play without a win the more likely it is we will be relegated in May.

And that will signal the end of what will have been a short reign by Rafa as the Newcastle boss.

Unfortunately, he has as the owner an anathema to managers – Mike Ashley.

But I digress – once again.

Here’s what Rafa said when asked about the mind games with Jose:

“For you – the press – the mind games are more important.”

“For me, it was the preparation of the games. I was not worried about the mind games, I was worried about my team.”

“If you win the game, the assumption is that you are winning the mind games. That is not always the case, sometimes your team is better and that is it.”

“So you can lose the mind games and you can win the game, it is sometimes like this.”

“My concern is my team and doing all the things I need to do to win games.”

It’s going to be tough but we must go all out for the win today – we need all 3 points.

Swansea getting caravahal has been a disaster for us. All our boys are talking a good game but quickly running out of time. Today might not be the day, but we need to start attacking teams. Rafa may not have much of a squad but this isn’t a bunch of under 20s either. They and he, need to up it.
