Great game to be at. Genius by Rafa. Need exactly that from shelvey and ritchie a few more times this season. Big Mo absolutely class again. Dubravka heroic. Lejeune great. Great day. Need to continue this into Bournemouth.

Crystal Palace’s fixtures look awful over the next month. They could be in big trouble come the end of March.

    Just got back from match
Bloody hell what a day what a display from all eleven on the pitch and the lads who came on.
Great atmosphere, which grew as the game went on to until the last five minutes when we were hanging on but fully deserved it in the end.
At last we have found a keeper that looks comfortable on the ball and commands the box great with pass out and when he kicks a lot more distance and straight.
Man of the match hard to pick someone out but I am going to give it Dubravka who for his debut was outstanding.

Nice touch from Rafa at end coming on the pitch and putting arm around Shelvey

Ref and linesmen were poor – missed penalty and gave some strange decisions.

Got to build on that performance and if so we will be safe – no problems – hopefully two week break to get Slamani fit

Dubravka 10 – didn’t put a foot wrong outstanding saves first half kept us in the game and was the launch pad for our win. At long last a keeper he used his mouth to shout and organise defenders
Dummett 9.5 – absolute brilliant – block after block don’t know how many he blocked and tackled if his life dependent on it
Lejuene 9 – Excellent game back in a black and white shirt was always available for the pass out from ‘Dub Star’ great tackle block to deny Sanchez and great header back across goal to set up the goal. Passed the ball well going forward.
Lascalles 9 – Another captain’s performance at the back looked a lot more comfortable with Lejuene alongside
Yedlin 8 – did well but at times gave Young to much space to attack into. Excellent going forward
Diame 9 – Keeps getting better set the tone for the rest of the team in the first ten minutes with some excellent tackles and interceptions.
Shelvey 9.5 – That’s more like it disciplined performance got better as the game went on and stepped up last 15 minutes when Kenedy tired and took control of our midfield
Kenedy 9.5 – Another who was outstanding carried the ball out of defence made some great runs linked up well with Diame and Perez – drove us forward with Diame but ran out on his legs last 15 minutes
Ritchie 8.5 – Best game in ages great goal. Ran tirelessly all game still lacking confidence tho and turns inside looking for players slowing the game up – but hopefully his goal will bring back his confidence.
Perez 8 – Another who put in a shift but sometimes infuriating as he has his head down and does not see players making movements around him.
Gayle 8 – Another who had a good game – should have had a penalty and great lay-off for the goal.
    Subs
Joselu – did well to hold the ball up the pitch some nice touches.
Atsu – as above and drew fouls from Man Utd
Hayden – not on long enough

hats off to Rafa. Ive questioned some of his decision making all season..but it turns out he knows about this footballing thing than i do

He was right about Diame all along. I had no idea he was a poor man’s yaya toure (not a slight)..he’s been very very good the last three games.

Dubravka is like signing a 3rd CB and goalkeep in one …i thought we needed transfer money spent on attacking players. I was wrong.

If Slimani plays anywhere near as good as kenedy and Dubravka ..relegation is no concern.

Absolutely incredible match. Obviously we should have had a penalty in the first half and there was a clear red in the second on the kick in the face. That ref was hopeless but we won anyway! Hahahahahahaha!!! Tremendous from all the lads. Shelvey and Diame were huge. Great goal by Ritchie. Dubravka was fantastic!!! HWTL!!!

There were about 5 or more men of the match for us. Can’t say enough about our work rate. If we get more home performances like that we’ll be fine.

Ed, thanks for showing last years tally for games played. Looking at this I can see we have a good chance to stay up, one point more is a plus and yes Rafa didn’t win a game for the first four so if we can change that with say 11 points out of the next six games that would put us in a really good position. That would give us 36 points, that’s leaves 6 games to get 4 points for the magical 40 points. With the new additions I am praying to god we can start doing a Watford or Bournemouth against some of the higher or bigger clubs as some call them. When we stay up I think Amanda will come back and purchase the club for 290 Million, with nothing else for Ashley, no advertising rights, nothing. Lets hope the above comes true and this would make me the Black and White Nostradamus. Howay the Toon!!!

Days like today are the reason you keep turning up. 🙂 Experiencing the terrible lows make the highs all that much better.
Just had a quick look at some comments pre match – the least said the better I reckon.
Great performance today. How anybody can ever knock this bunch of players is, beyond me. They never give anything less than 100%, despite many not being anywhere near the talent on display from Manure. Today that hard work paid off and we fully deserved the three points.
Hard to single out anybody from a total team effort, but went for our new keeper as motm.
If that’s a sample of his talent then what a buy/loan. 🙂 I don’t think we would’ve won without him, which is why I picked him, but frankly any of a number could’ve won it for me.
Mo Diame is finally the player we thought we bought. Most improved player this past month by a million miles.
Maybe Ritchie, with his drought finally over can contribute a few more towards the scary end of the season.
Didn’t hear a squeak from Level Seven following the goal. Not a song. Talk about glory hunters! 🙂 Sunlun apart, nothing gives me greater pleasure than beating this lot. 🙂
Anyway, what a day. 🙂 The pure unadulterated orgasmic joy of seeing that ball drop to Ritchie and knowing without a question of doubt where it was going means I will pay for it tomorrow… but that’s another day. 🙂
Great effort. Great performance. Great support and great three points. The Magic Hat is back on his heed!! 🙂 HOWAY THE TOON!!!!

That was the best I’ve seen us play at home for years. Dubravka was definitely key. Controlled the box, had a good outlet ball, made for our five key saves and ran the defense. Take us home Martin!!!

She just gave me one of those looks (I’m sure most of you married guys know what I mean) gave a little sigh then went and got a roll of paper towels. I think she understands why it happened and to be fair the shed will be fairly comfortable for me tonight.

Diame’s twin brother did have an beast of a match and credit to the ref for not blowing up for some of his tackles.

I got the feeling from Jose’s post match interview that he does have a soft spot for us and actually was happy for our win. Wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t hanker after managing us someday.

We now have just under two weeks to get some players fit, especially Slimani. I have to say watching the game today was awesome. I love Dubravka and Diame has changed so much in the last month and that’s how Jonjo needs to play every week. The team worked there socks off today but it means nothing if we cannot get a win at Bournemouth in 13 days time. Lets hope Rafa has Slimani starting with either Gayle or Perez playing off him. unlike our other forward Slim can keep the ball and other’s around can play off him.

I may be unpopular but I think people on here were swayed by G Nevile awarding Shelvey MoM. A few times in the first half he hit some hit and hope passes down the middle instead of aiming for the flanks, his short game played us into trouble through being too casual at times but I admit after we scored he was different class. I was really pleased for Ritchie who people have slated on here, lots of unselfish running and closing down AGAIN and was rewarded with a goal. the keeper had a great debut, every one out there put in a full shift, my MoM had to be Mo Diame, up until a few games ago I didn’t rate him but I hold my hand up, today he was immense he did all the spadework for us today he broke up ManU play time and time again and finnished it off with good distribution, I was trying to remember who he reminded me of, mow I remember , Patrick Vieara

Just got back home from the long trip home which for once was a pleasure.
It’s times like this which come a long along not often enough for us over the last ten years of the Fat controller, When you feel emotional pride to support our beloved club. And you just wish with a bit of Tlc and investment Nufc could go somewhere.
It has been along time since the atmosphere has been that good especially the second half, And hats off to every stand for once and not just the Gallowgate.
Shelvey was my man of the match today and How Lascelles doesn’t get called up for England I’ll never know.
Hats off to the new lad between the sticks, looks assured and confident ..Something sadly lacking of late.

Two CB’s played very well and what a debut by the keeper

Whole team did very well (just finished watching the match after work)

I am a little puzzled how no red card for feet that high and kick in the face….Penalty also in my opinion- very least a free kick (hard to give I know)

Need to follow this up next game

…and that, lads n lasses, is why it’s important to keep the faith. You get afternoons like this!
The atmosphere was electric, let me tell you. Built to a crescendo..and man, those goalmouth scrambles at the end… I have aged 10 years but hell was it worth it.
Loads in the Gallowgate stayed well past the end cheering Rafa and the lads who walked round giving the love right back.
Hard to pick a MOM, the team pulled each other along. Plenty of stars – Keeper obviously.. Diame ran himself to a standstill but special mention for Lejeune. His best game in a toon top for me. Composed on the ball, great timing. I’m not forgetting Shelvey, superb passing. But wanna see it from him most weeks and he can get in the international side.

Finally.. Lascelles, what a guy. Put his arm round an overexcited pitch invader after the final whistle and led him back off to the sidelines to avoid the steward nazis who would no doubt have hoyed him out unceremoniously or worse.
Proud of the lads, Rafa and the fans…all this DESPITE Ashley…

Jazzy well said and on lascelles the fact that smalling gets called up continuously is a joke AGAIN he gets away with a pen if he was playing for us hed give 1 away every single game its a joke but that lascelles tackle before the debruvka save was world class add to that his obvious passion he should be starting for england imo at the world cup
