Report – Newcastle Made Failed Bid Of £7M For This Player Last Month

We’re sure Rafa Benitez will attempt to get a good start to the summer transfer window this time around.

Lat summer was a disaster for Newcastle and for Rafa – and he’ll want to make sure the same thing doesn’t happen again – even if Mike Ashley is still the owner.

Newcastle have been linked with 27-year-old Cape Verde international Garry Rodrigues in the last couple of transfer windows, and Rafa could go after him again this summer.

Turkish Football are reporting that Galatasaray rejected a £6M bid from Newcastle last January and a second improved bid from Newcastle last month.

Garry Rodrigues – still a target this summer?

Rodrigues only moved to the Turkish club from PAOK last January (2017) for £3.3M so they will be making a decent profit on the player.

The latest report is that we bid £1M more last month – £7M – but clubs are now demanding a premium from Premier League clubs.

The 27-year-old winger has scored 4 goals and has 7 assists in 25 appearances for Galatasaray this season.

Rodrigues has played for five clubs in his career so far, and he could add some creativity on the wings which is one thing Rafa is looking for to improve the Newcastle side.

It’s not clear if Rodrigues will remain a firm target if Newcastle have any chance at all of signing Kenedy in the summer.

If we cannot get the Chelsea winger permanently maybe Rafa can arrange a season-long loan for the 22-year-old Brazilian, which is what he tried to do last summer.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

Not bothered about any transfers period. All I’m bothered about is getting behind the lads for the next 11 games and ensuring we are a PL team next season. Once safety is confirmed I hope someone offers lard arse the money he wants so he can himself a nice roll of sticky sticky, and fcuks off back to la la land!

Well done Paul. New contract well deserved.

If we ever do get investment and climb up the table no doubt I will be calling for your head. But whilst we are relegation Scrappers your more than good enough. Plus it’s always nice to have a Geordie in the team.

Why are we being linked with summer transfers? If Ashley is still in charge we won’t see any one coming in till the last day of the next January window ( loan Deals)

I think by the end of Ramadan this
year (14 June) PCP’s clients will be
    in control at NUFC.

As we all know, the problem with Ashley is that for all he says he want’s to sell, his greed’d kick in and he’d demand more than what others would see as a reasonable offer. I’m not sure he really does want to sell after all and despite his cock-ups, he’ll see the club as a cash cow that needs next to no input or effort from him. He could be offered the moon and he’d demand the sun.

Jiblets is assuming (or is he an ITK?) that the club’s saviour(s) is/ are probably Gulf based and if that does turn out to be the case, we can but wait and see whether PCP come back and keeps the identities of her clients under wraps until Ashley’s gone.

To be honest I can’t see him selling. He just fcuks about too much and constantly moves the goalposts and demands more and more.

Ashley is a, wants to sell, but doesn’t want anyone else to have us type!

    Man City were taken over
a month before Ramadan 2008 (August)
However the very end of the season
is clearly the best time for deals if possible

Wonder if Donald Trump and Boris Johnson have the same barber. Both have a knife and fork job of a haircut/hairstyle

Apropos of absolutely nothing at all the end of Ramadan this year (14th June) is also the birthday of one Donald Trump esquire.

Ashley selling only made sense to me if he needed the money for something. So sparky’s info had me sold on the idea and the other ITK fueled the fire. Hopefully he wants to free up money to buy back SD, as it seems he’s managed the sparky property deal without having to sell. It’s a huge publicity machine for him and he seems only to be seen negatively by Newcastle supporters the rest of the country believing the skylies. I wouldn’t be suprised if the sale was just a ruse to garner more publicity and to distract supporters from the lack of investment. Only I can’t give him credit for being that clever. But expect a sale every year now that he’s stumbled on the idea.

Some will say Ashley doesn’t understand football but he’s been here ten years and if he’s that slow on the uptake hows he a billionaire?

If Ashley sells it’ll be this summer, another ten years is unthinkable

Big fan of Dummet, deserves his contract, hard working honest pro!
