Malcolm Macdonald wrote after our famous 1-0 win at home to Manchester United that was one of the best performances from a Newcastle team for three or four years.
And we have to say that or a team performance we have never seen all 11 players and subs be so determined to win the game.
It’s the type of performance Newcastle fans love – we were the underdogs but we outfought the (very) high-priced opposition and there were some magnificent performances from our players.
Dubravka was massive on his debut in goal and Jonjo Shelvey showed the massive skills he has as he dominated the midfield with Mo Diame; The former Senegal International has been a revelation these past few months in the defensive midfield position.
Islam Slimani – to make debut at Bournemouth?
But now we must keep up the passion and will to win at Dean Court on Saturday where it will be more difficult to out-fight a stubborn and very well-drilled Bournemouth side.
But if we are to start to pull away from the relegation zone that’s what we will have to do.
Each game is now at least a week apart so every result is vital, and Rafa Benitez and his players will be going for another win on the south coast this Saturday.
The side was brilliant last time out but we still expect new loan signing Islam Slimani to start the game and the big Algerian will have had more than three weeks training with the lads so we should see how Rafa will use him on Saturday and play to his strengths.
Maybe the only change will be Slimani for Dwight Gayle, although Dwight had one of his best games for Newcastle – even though he didn’t score.
He worked his socks off for the side as did the rest of our players.
We must see that same passion to go all out and win our second game in a row.
We need four wins to get to 40 points and survival – one of them can be at Dean Court on Saturday.
Howay The Lads!!
