When we brought in the three loan players last month we thought the importance of the players was Islam Slimani first to score the goals, Kenedy next and goalkeeper Dubravka third because we didn’t think the goalkeeper position was that bad.
But after the 29-year-old’s brilliant debut at home to Manchester United maybe we have the order wrong, but it does seem the three new players can help us big time.
Kenedy is better than others we have on the wing, and he has class – and we are yet to see Slimani in a Newcastle shirt.
Martin Dubravka – brilliant against Man United
But Dubravka made a difference with his decision making and the fact he is very good with his feet, and he made some excellent saves and showed he was good in the air and on the ground.
It’s not a secret he is more than keen to make the loan deal permanent in the summer.
Martin has talked to the local press about his move, and he had this to say as reported in the Shields Gazette:
“It was a big opportunity for me to come to this big club with great history and very good players.”
“I was very happy and very satisfied that I could compete with the best players in the Premier League.”
“Now I’m here and trying to get used to it.”
“It’s exciting to be here, it is a big club particularly in my own country,”
“I appreciate the opportunity, and I will try to do my best to stay. Hopefully, it will not just be a loan.”
“I really hope I get to stay longer than six months. It’s a huge opportunity for my life.”
Well, you cannot say that Dubravka is not motivated to do well in every single game, so he gets his dream of staying at Newcastle on a permanent basis.
We are hoping Dubravka and the team can put in another good (great) performance on Saturday at 10th placed Bournemouth.
It will not be easy, but it’s a game we can win.
