Newcastle have been strongly linked with a move for Galatasaray winger Garry Rodrigues who has already said he thinks the deal with Newcastle will be done for less than €15M (£13.2M).
Garry is very keen to join Newcastle and according to reports coming out of Turkey we had scouts watching him at Galatasaray’s game on Friday.
Lyon, Fiorentina, and Sevilla were also represented at the game and according to Turkish newspaper Milliyet, they think the competition for Garry’s signature will help force up his transfer fee this summer.
Garry Rodrigues – price could go up
But that’s only because Premier League club Newcastle are interested and the other clubs mentioned probably couldn’t afford the player if he goes too much above say £14M.
But if another PL club enters the race for his signature his price could well go up.
Newcastle had a bid of £7M for him turned down in January and it’s expected Newcastle will go back in for him this summer with a bid of at least £10M.
But if Mike Ashley is still the owner and if the transfer fee of Rodrigues goes up too much then Mike Ashley may refuse to pay it.
If that happens it will deja vu all over again in the summer transfer window for Rafa and the fans.
We really hope that doesn’t happen – we are sick of Ashley’s meanness.
