25-Year-Old Striker Likely To Be One Of Rafa’s Top Targets This Summer

Rafa Benitez has been interested in signing Liverpool striker Danny Ings for some time now.

Newcastle would have taken Danny on loan in January, but the Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and the player himself decided to stay at the Reds to fight for his place in the first team.

From what we can tell Rafa rates the former Burnley striker and the only doubt about him is that he’s suffered two serious knee injuries during his almost three years at Anfield.

And because of the injuries, the striker has played only 17 times for Liverpool with 3 goals and one assist, and he’s made 6 appearances so far this season.

Danny Ings – made to measure for Newcastle?

Liverpool paid Burnley £6.5M up front, with an extra £1.5M in player performance-related bonuses – and that was set by a tribunal.

Liverpool will not have paid any bonuses for the player since he has played so few games, and there are some advantages of Newcastle signing Ings this summer.

  • Danny should come with a fairly low transfer fee since he is still a risk because of his knee injuries
  • He is an experienced Premier League players having played a full season in the Premier League with Burnley (2014-2015) scoring 11 goals in 35 appearances.
  • Danny has something to prove – to show he can still play at the top level in the Premier League.
  • He easily passes the character test too, and Klopp has often praised his overall attitude in training. And outside of the game in November 2014, he launched and funded the Danny Ings Disability Sports Project.

The purpose of the project is to provide football coaching to children with disabilities and learning difficulties, and Danny was inspired to do that by a young disabled Burnley fan.

Benitez is expected to be given substantial funds in the summer, even if Mike Ashley is still the owner.

Yes – that’s not a misprint.

But Rafa will still try to pick up bargains – and Danny could be one of them.

We’d be happy enough to get a player Newcastle were after way back in 2010 when he was 18.

Maybe we’ll see Rafa talking to Ings after the game on Saturday?

I feel if Arsenal get a good smacking off
Man City tonight at the Emirates then
Wenger could come under real pressure

See Rafa’s still in his shorts.

Suppose as an alternative to an ice bath the players could just bury someone up to their necks in snow, Slimani perhaps?

    According to Lee Ryder
    Rafa is busy preparing his
    retained list for summer already.
That infers that he is staying and
furthermore he is clearing the decks
with an eye to a big shake up in Summer.

    Does this mean :-

    a) Ashley has told him there will be funds

    b) He knows there will be new proprietors

Is Danny Ings going to score 15 league goals a season, I doubt it, will he play the best part of the 38 league games….in the Premier League……I doubt that too. Until we are secure its all pie in the sky anyway, and when we are then we need quality. Trouble is if the current owner is still in the chair we will be spending little as usual and little don,t buy quality…..

    A fair point
    with Burnley in the PL
    he scored 11 in 35
In the Championship with Burnley he scored
21 in 40 about the same as Gayle
You pay big money to improve not stand still

In his 3 years as a Liverpool player Danny Ings has made 17 appearances in all competitions – half of them in cup competitions and very often as a substitute. The rest of the time he has been either injured or not match fit. He makes Michael Owen look like Toughy McToughface. One to avoid.

No Ings please. Look at his record. This is bollocks. Rafa will know to stay away from him. We need a fit striker who can score with his feet and his head. Is Slimani fit yet?

How many players have we been linked with since we were promoted? 99% Mash wouldn’t pay their wages never mind buy them. So much speculation it’s unbelievable at Newcastle.
We don’t even know what league we’ll be playing in next season yet.
    I would say 50 50 is a fair bet.

This is little to do with Arsenal though. Put any side against that tonight and there’s only one result. Irresistible. Glad we escaped with our dignity intact. They seem to be getting better all the time and someone will go for double figures on a good day. Scary.

He isn’t going anywhere. We go through this same process every year now with Wenger. He might leave at the end of the season, but he probably won’t.
He definitely wouldn’t walk away mid season and Arsenal have way to much respect for him to sack him mid season.
