Here’s Newcastle’s Predicted Team At Liverpool

It should be a straight-forward team selection for Liverpool today with Jonjo Shelvey not available through injury we expect Mikel Merino to come in for Jonjo in central midfield.

But Mikel has very little experience of a big game like this and therefore Rafa could make some other selection – maybe Isaac Hayden will get the call to replace Jonjo?

Mikel Merino – could get a start today

Here’s the team we think Rafa will start today:

Dubravka
Yedlin Lascelles (c) Lejeune Dummett
Ritchie Diame Perez Merino Kenedy
Ritchie

What would your team be for today?

We expect Rafa to pack the midfield and rely on quick counter-attacks to try to get something out of the game.

Can we have two miracles in the last three games and beat Liverpool?

They’ll be coming down on our RB. We need less attacking intent from Ritchie and more defensive harrying, along with Diame breaking up their midfield. We could do with a sympathetic ref for Ayoze as I feel he will be tumbling all over like a circus acrobat today. Lonely job up front for Gayle, I think Joselu would be a better start. Please please please don’t put Hayden on.

I actually wouldn’t be adverse to seeing Ritchie playing upfront. Best finisher in the side, so… why not.

Did you intend Gayle upfront or Joselu?
I would like to see the pace of Gayle against their defence, but Joselu has done them before in the home game.
How reassuring it is to have a top manager on days like this!

Everton continuing to under achieve but really glad to see Fat Sam failing. Honestly, I do not think Allardyce deserves to be anywhere near English football again after what happened with England

From previous thread – I’ve no idea who’s behind the reported Burnley bids. It was reported by the Times.

However, I wouldn’t be surprised if Staveley’s thrown her hat into the ring to give Ashley a reminder that there are other buyable clubs out there.

Mitro’s price tag going up for us. 3rd goal in last 3 matches at 10’ mark.

Three goals in three starts for Mitrovic.

If anybody has a link for the goal, posting it would be appreciated.

Mitrovic is on fire. Another promotion contender, another goal. 3 goals and an assist in 3 starts. That can happen when you have a manager that wants you and makes you the main man. Working very hard by accounts of Fulham fans on Twitter too.

All the talk has been about a low points total being enough to keep you up this season. I’m not so sure about that, most teams all still picking up points

Mitro-yawn-vic….. Banging in the championship goals. Anyone wonder why he didn’t do it for us last year? Oh yes, the terrible Benitez. Stifler of talent. Switcher-off of top international players. We should get him back because anyone who can score against Derby would hit the ground running against premiership opposition.

Listen it would be great if he suddenly clicked and roared back into our team to be a 25-goal a season man but we have waited years already. Hes just a very naughty boy. 🙂

23 games in debut PL season at 21 years-old – 9 goals and 4 assists. There’s his PL stats. Button it with your blind idolisation, you offer no insight because you’re not inclined to see whole pictures.

To be fair, 9 goals in your debut season in the PL as a 21yr old isn’t bad. Add in McClaren as your boss and it was a team that got relegated and I think that was a fair season for him.

Since then he hasn’t had a manager who believed in him or gave him any confidence and the result is clear. Now he does have that and what,’day know? Goals and confident Mitro returns.

I’m not saying Mitro is a top PL Cf, maybe he isn’t good enough. But he is a damn sight better than joselu and would score more with a supportive manager. To choose to go with Joselu over Mitro is insane, especially given how desperate we have been this season.

I’ve always felt rafa was wrong ‘re nitro. People forget he has scored at champs league level and consistently at international level. Surely it can be argued that a good manager designs the tactics to suit the players at his disposal.. but rafa chose agadoo, consistently, even when mitro came on and turned the west Brom game on his head. Crazy stuff.

Sometimes personalities just clash, a manager cannot work with a certain player within his system or, they have a falling out about something specific and a cold war ensues in which neither party gives the other their full effort. Personally think it’s a mix of all 3 – it’s not footballing ability though.
