Liverpool 2 Newcastle 0 – Video Highlights

Newcastle failed to score this afternoon at Anfield and we went down to our 14th defeat in the 29 Premier league games we have played.

Almost half our games have ended in defeat this season – not good.

Goals from Salah (40) and Mane (55) were enough to see off Newcastle and we remain 5th bottom of the league on 29 points.

Mikel Merino – in action at Anfield this afternoon

Newcastle hardly offered anything in the final third of the pitch and it was just too comfortable for Liverpool.

Here are the video highlights.

Arse. Still could be worse. Our problem is that we could draw our way to relegation but I think we will survive

Can’t help but feel that broken break tag below the comments might be breaking the blog a tad.

Wasn’t expecting anything from the game, but wish we’d have asked more questions of Liverpool. Gayle was isolated, Joselu dropped into midfield to pick the ball up, and Atsu struggles to pass to a wall. Painful viewing at times, but I’d sooner lose against Liverpool than I would against Southampton.

Next round of fixtures absolutely critical.

    NUFC vs Southampton
    Stoke vs Man City
    Chelsea vs Palace

If Palace lose against Man U Monday night, then we win against Southampton with Stoke and Palace losing their fixtures, we’ll be 5 clear of the drop zone

Part of our problem is that we still don’t know how bad or good we are. For example atsu can be great but he disappears too, a bit like the team. We need a win.

    Hail
I agree with you but I just forget what the other teams are doing as it’s in our hands and we have at least 5 games we can win; even winning 4 games gives us 41 points and safety!

They showed just how far behind we are.
Good defensive work for the first 40 minutes but otherwise we’re championship level.

We need Slimani so bad! We are toothless as we have proved all season.

Our defense is probably the best I’ve seen for us but our frontline is probably the worst we’ve had.

Our decision making and passing from midfield is terrible in 8 out of 10 of our games and it is costing us big time to build any threatening play. Then welhen we do manage a great chance our forwards miss the target.

Slimani can’t come soon enough for us. He will need to hit the ground running.

Huffed and puffed all game – could still be playing until midnight and not scored.

Thought defence and keeper did ok – Lejeune my Man of the Match for me saved us time and time again first half. Lascalles had a poor game by his recent standards.
Diame pick of midfield – Merino and Kenedy were poor caught in possession too many times and gave the ball away far too often – mind you had no one to pass to up front as Murphy and Gayle were poor and Atsu was shite.
Said time and time again struggle when we have three lightweight players up front cannot hold the ball up and close control is poor.

Got to get something out of Southampton game as we are in deep doo doo’s

We need to win the next two games. They’re both massive games. Six points needed.
