Newcastle Fans React – It Feels Wrong Celebrating Man United Goal – But Needs Must

Some Newcastle fans watching the Crystal Palace vs Manchester United game last night got decidedly older in those first 50 minutes when Crystal Palace were 2-0 up with goals from Andros Townsend (11) and former Newcastle loan player Patrick van Aanholt (48).

If Palace won the game they would go above Newcastle by one point and we would be 4th bottom of the league, one point above Southampton, who we play at home on Saturday.

Newcastle fans suddenly became Manchester United fans (strange that)  and well, would you believe the Red Devils came back with goals from Smalling (55) and Lukaku (76) to level the scores.

And then Nemanja Matic – that fantastic central midfield player – scored the winner in stoppage time (90+1).

And just to make it worse for Palace that was his first goal ever for Manchester United.

Nemanja Matic – scoring winner in the 91st minute

Crystal Palace were so really unlucky last night and they have probably thrown more points away than even Newcastle this season – and that’s saying something

The tweets from Newcastle fans were decidedly different as the game progressed.

Here’s a sampling.

I’d cheer any win for any team if it helps us, even a Sunderland win if the situation ever arises, why such a fuss because it’s Man U is baffling, who are they to us, just another team !

No doubt Palace would have been cheering the 2 late Bournemouth goals against us, it’s natural.
