Rafa’s Massive Clearout Of Players Starts At The U23 Level – 8 Released

Lee Ryder of the Chronicle is reporting there will be a massive cull of U23 players at Newcastle, and a number of the players have been summoned to St. James’ Park today – maybe to hear what their fate is.

It’s unlikely to be good news.

Lee Ryder is reporting that two U23 players who will get new contracts are Luke Charman and Cal Roberts and the others whose contracts are up in June will not get new deals.

Callum Roberts – one of only two players to get a new deal

The latest news is that Tom Heardman, Ben Kitchen, Curtis Good, Stuart Findlay, Michael Newberry, Jack Hunter, Kyle Cameron, and Paul Woolston have all been released.

Players were called to St James’ Park this morning for a crunch meeting in

The cull at the U23 level is likely to be repeated for senior players in the first team squad.

And we fully expect another huge clearout of players as Rafa will try to bring in more quality this summer, so we are not fighting a relegation battle again next season.

That would be both a blessing and a change.

Calling our squad the worst squad in memory is ridiculous, if we had a goal scorer we’d be 10pts better off easily by now and capable of top 10 finish no problems, to call the entire squad the worst in history is baffling when you consider how hard the team works and how solid we are defensively (compare to previous years). I personally think we’re a premier ship team with a championship attack, 50pts would have been achievable if we had gotten that quality striker through the door and that’s evidenced in the results this season, where it was obvious with clinical finishing we would of run away with games, instead losing/drawing in the latter stages of games.

I asked yesterday what has happened to Heardman, so now we know. Thought he might be one for the future but obviously he aint.

Bit surprised at Findlay being released the few times he got a game he looked a decent player.

And Good has been desperately unlucky with injuries.

Just hope they all can find clubs and do well enough for us to be disappointed in seeing them elsewhere.

    Good luck lads.

Sell 20 players at all levels so we can afford another loan deal in the summer. Another Ashley saga no doubt !

Hibbit, we’ve had this discussion before and still think that you can’t say they are not good enough until they’ve had a 1st team chance to prove otherwise.

I appreciate that they can’t all fulfill any earlier promise, but given the poor junior management they’ve had it is probable that some of them could make you eat your words.

    Tsunki from last night

They weren’t pointless stats, they were stats pointing out that without mitros input last season we wouldnt have got automatic promotion so just putting them up for people who like to spout he only scored 1 and did bugger all or was a failure or useless and so on i.e bullshit

Not suprsing considering our position in the Premier league 2 table. Need an improvement of management and investment with the young lads so the give Rafa an option for their selection and involvement.
