This Kind Of Thing Is An Embarrassment To Newcastle United FC

The Newcastle United U23 team were at the Stadium of Light last night for a Premier League International Cup quarter-final.

It was an exciting game and a good performance from both teams and we finally won the game after it finished 2-2 after extra time.

We won 11-10 on penalties.

It should been all positive news for Newcastle but it wasn’t because a number of seats were damaged where the Newcastle fans were housed behind one of the goals.

Newcastle United have issued an official statement on the situation:

“Newcastle United is aware of the unacceptable behavior of a number of its supporters who attended last night’s Under-23s match against Sunderland AFC at the Stadium of Light.”

“The club is very disappointed to hear of the actions of a small group of individuals and will do everything it can to help the police identify those responsible and hold them to account.”

This kind of thing does nothing for the image of Newcastle and it’s only a very small number of fans.

But it hurts our club nevertheless.

Comments welcome.

Considering your view of our players has them down as dirt I’m glad you won’t be taking your nervous disposition in to the match on Saturday.

Bunch of kids ripping up a few seats – stayed up too late on a school night. Mackems trying to deflect from the fact that our lads (near bottom of the division below the Mackems) beat them fair and square. I don;t condone the behaviour, but Heysel it ain’t.

Well done to the players, who have to take confidence and belief from this match. What a difference in performance we’ve seen from these guys since a certain club legend was suspended.

Apparently there’s a photo of one of the nuggets holding up a seat on the Metro on the way home doing the rounds of social media. That’s him with an Asbo whenever they catch up with him. Pointless….

c-dog, I think some of our older contributors would argue with you re the quality of the squad. You should remember that some folks’ memories go back further than yours may do.

Secondly, I think your comment is disrespectful – how do you actually support our players with that attitude?

    Your last two posts state
“I’ll be there Jail. Supporting our worst squad in memory. a true ashley squad” and
“supporting a bad player is like supporting a bad owner”

The only way that I can interpret that is that you support bad players and a bad owner.

So are you an Ashley supporter? Cos that’s what you’re saying.
