Predicted Newcastle Team For Crucial Game Against Saints

Jonjo Shelvey has been training this week with the first team, although Rafa said at his press conference this afternoon that tomorrow may be too early for him – and we will have to wait and see.

Jonjo wanted to train last week but was prevented from doing so by the medical staff until additional scans came in, which must have shown zero damage to the knee if he was allowed to train this week.

So we think Rafa will start Jonjo in a 4-4-2 formation.

Jonjo Shelvey – back tomorrow?

Here’s the team that could start tomorrow’s crucial game:

Yedlin Lascelles (c) Lejeune Dummett
Ritchie Shelvey Diame Kenedy
Gayle Perez

If Jonjo doesn’t make it Mikel Merino will get another chance to improve his match fitness against Southampton.

We’ve got Matt Richie back in the side (just in case we may get a penalty) and Gayle and Perez up front.

They are both fairly short, so maybe Rafa could play Joselu up front with Gayle who may get some knockdowns from the former Stoke striker.

But with Mitrovic gone to Fulham on loan and Slimani still injured there are not a lot of choices among the available strikers.

What team would you start for tomorrow?

Think tomorrow is a massive must win, as is Huddersfield. We have thrown away too many games this year and it will catch up. Draw is no good.

Slimani news not surprising, I remember in deadline day there was a lot of talk about slimani failing the medica to then actually sign for us. I’m starting to think there was more to it now than just rumours.

Just been on BBC that we are the lowest goalscorers at home in the league, well Rafa pull your finger out and attack , no more defensive games going for a 1-0 loss.

Yep this is it now. We can no longer put it off with the blase attitude of ‘oh well onto the next one’. This weekend I think will define it for us. A win and I think we will stay up, a draw we will end up relying on everyone else to do us favours. A loss and we are gone barring a miracle.

Yeah think it will be 442, 4 to patrol the 18 yard box, 4 to patrol the 6 yard box and 2 keepers. stuff the tactics just pick the right bloody team and let them go out and play.
