Rafa Explains What Four Day Trip To Spain Is All About – And What It’s Not About

Rafa Benitez is not a real believer in mid-season breaks, and he has said he’s happier if his players see their families as he does the training at Benton for the next match.

But during our three-week break coming up after Saturday’s game against Southampton, he will be taking the squad to Spain for just four days next week.

That because we don’t have our game a week today at Tottenham because they are playing in the FA Cup that weekend.

The purpose of the trip is to put in some warm weather training, and Rafa makes a point of saying there will be no parties.

Rafa Benitez – no parties allowed – only football

Here’s a tweet from the Newcastle United Twitter account.

Here’s Rafa’s full comment on the trip to Spain:

“I’m not keen to go to Spain to enjoy the sun – I have been there all my life – but we will go for four days to Spain.”

“Not too long. No parties. Just to train, to make sure we have a competitive game, then come back.”

After what happened with Alan Pardew’s West Brom squad when they stole a taxi, you can rest assured our boys will be tucked up in bed during the small hours of every morning while they are in Spain.

Slimani not certain to be fit in 3 weeks????

Has anyone discussed whether it was correct to loan out Mitro when we signed an injured CF leaving us with Gayle(dodgy hamstrings) and Joselu?

    JDubai,
It’s only been the subject of about 4K posts and a whole programme of Total Sport dedicated to it.

Just a thought Rafa, but how about keeping the players at home to train and send the fans out to Spain for 4/5 days, Benidorm anyone?

This Slimani situation seems very similar to what happened with Stephen Ireland.

I’m sure whether Rafa had any choice over Mitro going out. The mantra from the Ashley/ Barnes camp’ll been nobody in until somebody’s out. The fact that Slimani won’t be getting much game time for us is down to Ashley/Barnes. If they hadn’t been playing silly buggers and dealt with transfer business before or soon after the window opened, Rafa’s back wouldn’t have been pushed against the wall that is scratching about for cheapies in its closing hours.

It seems that Ashley and his thugs are running the club with their eyes solely on the day to day finances with no regard for Rafa and footballing success or even survival.

Can’t you have a word with PCP’s crew in Dubai and ask them to ask Amanda to please, please, please up her bid and rid the club of the blight, the disaster, that is Ashley.

Jail, I did listen to the True Faith podcast, which I thought was excellent. Why anyone would want to gamble with his own pretty huge investment I have no idea, but how he can justify gambling with the hearts and minds of so many folk is absolutely beyond me. I have sleepless nights if I think I’ve let one person down, let alone 50k who turn up every week and 100s of thousands across the North East and further afield who have spent their lives following the club.

Rafa would always give Joselu the nod over Mitro, so he may as well not be here. I think the big issue is Slimani, I Don’t believe for one second that Slimani has picked up a recurrence of a injury or a different injury in training or any other bullsh1t that comes out of the club, Just think the F@T TW@T took another big gamble that we would avoid .relegation with or without Slimani .It’s Ashley doing what Ashley does best, heaping more and more embarrassment on the club and making the club a total laughing stock
