Rafa Benitez is not a real believer in mid-season breaks, and he has said he’s happier if his players see their families as he does the training at Benton for the next match.
But during our three-week break coming up after Saturday’s game against Southampton, he will be taking the squad to Spain for just four days next week.
That because we don’t have our game a week today at Tottenham because they are playing in the FA Cup that weekend.
The purpose of the trip is to put in some warm weather training, and Rafa makes a point of saying there will be no parties.
Rafa Benitez – no parties allowed – only football

Here’s Rafa’s full comment on the trip to Spain:
“I’m not keen to go to Spain to enjoy the sun – I have been there all my life – but we will go for four days to Spain.”
“Not too long. No parties. Just to train, to make sure we have a competitive game, then come back.”
After what happened with Alan Pardew’s West Brom squad when they stole a taxi, you can rest assured our boys will be tucked up in bed during the small hours of every morning while they are in Spain.
