Rafa Cool, Calm And Confident Before Massive Game

Rafa Benitez was relaxed and confident at the Benton Training ground yesterday before our massive game against Southampton at home this afternoon.

His massive experience helps of course, but he’s never been in too many relegation battles – two with Newcastle and one with Extremadura in the late 1990s.

Rafa Benitez – cool, calm and confident

Rafa’s calmness and general cool demeanor will pass on to out players hopefully.

The local journalists were with Rafa yesterday afternoon and this is what he has said in the Chronicle when asked about the Southampton game and whether the team will feel the pressure:

“Yes, we will feel the pressure, but we’ve been feeling it from day one.”

“It’s not a big difference, so hopefully for me, it’s the same. Hopefully, the players can go on the pitch and then they can perform at the level that we’re performing recently.”

“It’s not just about winning or not winning but doing the right things. It’s massive for everyone to survive.”

“Brighton and Huddersfield, they have an advantage because they haven’t been feeling the pressure from day one.”

“The rest of the teams, we have been feeling the pressure in one way or another way.”

“So when you are at the bottom of the table and you’re Brighton or Huddersfield, then it’s fine.”

“And that is also the reason they’re doing well, because they’re playing without so much pressure, so it means they can play better sometimes.”

Close to 70% of our fans think we can win this game and since we go on a three-week break after the game let’s hope we can get all 3 points today.

And then we can all celebrate.

The win depends on whether Shelvey plays for me today. He has been in great form & vital in the run in along with Diame.
Merino should have been stepped in in his absence but went backwards for some reason. All in all, It’s a must win game no doubt about it.

4 points from the next two games will do, especially as I see us getting something at Leicester. If Merino can put in a performance today then we should have no problem. I’m going 2-0 – Ritchie and Gayle to score.

I sincerely hope they can it a vital game today!

Feels like a make or break game today – so a drab draw prolonging the agony of the knife-edge balance it will be then!

Oh and the above sounds like pre-emptive excuses from Rafa.

    Up and at ’em!

Rafas excuses are pathetic. The reason Brighton and Huddersfield haven’t felt as much pressure is they aren’t scared to attack teams. This has been the most negative season of football I’ve ever watched and my season ticket will not be renewed next season if he is still in charge.

If you have a season ticket, won’t you have to
make a decision to renew, or not, BEFORE you
know if Rafa will be in charge?
