Who Was Newcastle’s Man Of The Match Against Southampton?

In what was our most important game of the season Newcastle had their joint best result of the season with a convincing 3-0 win against what was admittedly a poor Southampton side.

That takes us to 32 points from 30 games and we are 8 points short of 40 points and what should be safety from relegation.

Our next game is against Huddersfield in three weeks time and we must play with the same passion, intensity, and skill our players showed today.

Kenedy scores!

A great effort from all our players today – these lads know how to fight.

Congratulations to all of them on such a crucial win for the club.

See allot of raving over Vardys goal. Great goal no doubt, thought Kenedys 1st for the Toon was better.

Black and white tinted glasses firmly on haha. Kenedy’s was a great great goal. Vardy’s was a world class goal.

Our second goal was in my opinion our best goal of the season.

Stand up all those “Matt Ritchie haters?” Some couldn’t wait to have a go at the lad yet he still never gave anything less than 100% even when not at his best. These last few games however it’s all come back for him. Players have given their all, throughout the season and that includes Perez and Joselu who may not be everyone’s favorites but they certainly put in a shift so get off their backs too. We’re not called United for nothing??

I genuinely feel it was just as good. I’ve not had a chance to scrutanise the chest but from the angles I’ve seen it don’t look lucky, and the finish was no fluke or bobble as Thompson put it. The ball from Shelvey the chest that took out 2 defenders, turn and half volley finish.

Glad Perez played well. Always had a lot of time for him.

Definitely wasn’t a lucky chest, he surely meant it. But the finish wasn’t that as clean or controlled as Vardy’s. That being his weaker left foot and over the top of the head and hit is pure world class skill.

Not taking anything away from Kenedy’s though. It was a pure genius and no one else in our side could have done it.

Couldn’t have gone any better for us this weekend. CP, wet ham lose the other two tie and the unwashed lose again(cherry on top really). All played great except Joselu he needs to get the Diame treatment. I was not a Diame Fan but he has been soo consistently good lately he deserved the shirt IMO.

    Shelvey my motm.

Admission I was (am) no great fan of Ritchie but he’s in good form and same of Diame. Don’t know if it’s Rafa but those 2 have come on of late and I haven’t a bad word for either of them now but think we’ll replace them if a takeover ever happens.

As for our team, you know all you need to know about the gap in quality between the top six and the rest when a single win and favourable results from other fixtures can see you rocket up the table jumping 3 to 4 teams and be solidly midtable just 5 points clear of relegation … Hope takeover happens we are going to need investment to compete anywhere near top 10!

As ever, these Magpies keep surprising us. Commitment seems to be the key. Also teamwork – as I recognise on the park a distinct ability to pass the opportunity to score to a team-mate. That is surely Class!
